Just an Update...
Added 2016-03-04 08:22:29 +0000 UTCWell, I'm done letting Bogwort show off his nipples. Probably best, what begins as a nipple can easily end up as a mostly naked goblin sportin' a man-thong. Trust me, that's an image that will haunt you for all time!
Anyways, update time. Got busy again earlier this week, but I'm sectioning off time Saturday and Sunday to work on the game. I've also got half a day next Monday and Wednesday set aside to work. We'll see how much I can get accomplished.
For the game itself: I've gotten all the primary quest dialogue and events in place for the entire chapter (including the 3rd section). I'm in the process of doing my major playthrough. This takes time because this is the point when I go through everything and when I find a point where I want a graphic, I add one. This is when lots of the little ecchi scenes get added/created just for flavor. It is also when I lock in alot of the superfluous dialogue eventing to make it all seem "alive." I can tell you that I ended up dropping the little animation bits I was planning, but may revisit it later. I was looking at doing 1) making standing portraits blink (which is easy to draw, harder to setup in RPG Maker without causing lag), and 2) making Aylia's boobs bounce when her portrait appears. Nothing Earth-shattering, but I thought it'd make things a bit nicer. I'm not 100% giving up on it, but it's time to move forward.
For the next teaser (Bogwort's week finale): I was going to have a mini-RPG Maker release that just consisted of a battle with one of the chapter 1 h-enemies. Instead, I'm going to release the "extras" area and get feedback. This means I need to get that stuff working. So, stay tuned, you should see this at some point next week.
For release plans: Since early January, I've been delving into chapter 2 as I work (and chapter 3, but really minor there). I've done that because as I create switches/variables in chapter 1 based on your decisions, I follow those threads and write up my plans for future chapters. I promise you, there are very few false decisions in Aylia's Story. Your decisions change things, not always majorly, but things do change dynamically. This is one of the hardest things for me to accomplish, and requires a ton of planning, but it is also one of the aspects of Aylia's Story I like the most. I have not played any H-RPG Maker games that go to the lengths I am trying to go to, but I also don't speak Japanese, so I am missing out on a ton of stories out there.
Rambling aside, the point of all that is I'm starting to get a very good idea of my work list for chapter 2 as well. I don't have a release date for chapter 1, but I'm aiming to have both chapters in your hands by early June. This puts me on the pace that I want to complete the game this year (with a bit of time to spare as well, for the issues I know will come up). I'm also aware that it will be impossible to achieve this without making the transition to at least part-time, but preferably full time. I've been setting things up for that transition for about half a year now, and that is progressing as well. We shall see, but I'm with you guys in that I'm past ready to get things rolling...
Finally, I'm going to put up a poll this weekend. The poll will 1) Finalize the monster name from last week, 2) Select the top 8 outfits from the outfit post a few weeks back, and 3) Get your perception regarding the Hunter's Quest release. So, stay tuned for that.
Oh, and I guess I have to fucking change my Patreon page... I'm really not in love with the new format. I find it much harder to peruse creator posts, and it will ensure that I'll have to figure something out for Lore Posts, as I don't want them to get lost in the shuffle. I'll also have to dedicate a night I could be working on the game to making sure that my graphics fit the new design (which I don't even really like). A bit annoying, but it is what it is I guess.
As always, thanks for your patience. I can't stress enough how significant everyone's support has been throughout this process.

Thank you for the kind words! I can tell you, if Aylia's Story (and future titles) live up to the Drizzt series, I'd be beyond happy. I loved those books, and it is humbling to be compared to them. We'll see where things go, but I hope you are still this satisfied when you play more of the game. Also, I've worked a LOT on my writing over the years, so it really does mean a lot to me to read this. Thank you.

2016-03-10 07:25:10 +0000 UTCKeep in mind the current delays come partially from the fact that Yummy is NOT working full-time. He works another job with varying hours.

2016-03-07 20:23:02 +0000 UTC1-2 games per year? Funding's going to be just the tip of that iceberg. You'll need a team or three, mid to high end equipment and software, working space and several man-hours per day to do that. Oh, and then you'll need a ton of funding, or at least more than 7-8 grand per major update! Good luck bud, you're gonna need it.

2016-03-07 17:13:51 +0000 UTCThis is my first post here, but I wanted to say this...<br><p> This game had me hooked from the moment I started playing it. The story line is so intriguing that once I started playing the demo, I could not stop until I had reached the end.</p><br><p> Having grown up reading Fantasy books, I could easily see how this could be turned into a series matching anything from Piers Anthony(<i>Xanth</i> series) or R. A. Salvatore(<i>"The Legend of Drizzt"</i>--Forgotten Realms). I can't wait to see how the story turns out. <strong>Please do not rush</strong>(unless you have to)!</p>
2016-03-06 23:06:28 +0000 UTCI don't think it will take that long :-) In fact, there might be mutiny if it does...

2016-03-06 21:44:05 +0000 UTCWell, should be 4 paid updates with Aylia's Story. Also, I plan on my secondary projects to constitute a single paid update. So a translation release would be a pledged update, etc. I've got a kind of fun idea for my secondary project post Hunter's Quest, we shall see. For my original content stuff, I'm looking to stay within the Aylia's Story world for a bit. I'm going to build at least one more game that takes place well after the events in Aylia's Story. New main character, new areas, etc. I also have some ideas for new features, but that is down the line. Right now, all major efforts are going into Aylia's Story and getting it done. Still, I want this to become a well-oiled machine at some point, where I am working full time and producing 1-2 games per year. For me to do that (given my current funding), if I can release a chapter/secondary project every 2 months, I'd be okay.

2016-03-06 21:43:28 +0000 UTCWhat are you gonna do when you finish? I mean, you will only be paid 3 times... Goind for another game? Maybe "Ayila 2"?

2016-03-06 11:36:31 +0000 UTCMy major playthrough testing is not "beta" testing. It is playing through to ensure that the game fits my vision. It is adding the little things along the way that makes my game what I want it to be. I'm sorry it takes so long, but again, game development takes time. In the past year, while I have not released a game update, I have been actively posting and discussing content with you guys. I post here frequently, and I have almost 60 creator posts now. If you only care about playing the game itself, then perhaps my Patreon is not ideal for you--which I completely understand. I don't want to charge monthly, because I don't want to release updates in that fashion. I want my updates to be large, well polished releases that allow the player to enjoy the game, not spend time fighting bugs. Heck, how many "finished" games are ruined in DLSite because you get stuck on bugs. Sarah of the Rotation Cut comes to mind, great game, loads of potential, ruined because every time I play it, I crash at some point. I don't want that to be Aylia's Story.

2016-03-04 16:37:26 +0000 UTCI first read it as "I'm aiming to have chapter 1 in your hands by early June" and panicked a bit. I don't mind waiting as long as you throw in vague teasers once in a while. I'm very glad you're not rushing anything just to get your hands on a paid post as fast as possible. Kudos, man.
2016-03-04 16:28:55 +0000 UTCThat is true, but it is also true that if you look at the top creators in the Japanese market, you're waiting 2-3 years before a new game is released. Scale Garden posts almost nothing along the way, and simply releases something every 3rd year or so. You've got to realize, it takes a long time to develop a good game. If I meet my goals for this year (which I'm setting with more wisdom in mind), the game will have been released within 2 years of announcement. That is a very good timetable for a single developer. I'm not a company with resources, I'm one man with a full time job and a young child.

2016-03-04 16:28:14 +0000 UTCPlease remember that some of us have been waiting for more than a year for the chapter 1
2016-03-04 16:19:24 +0000 UTCUm no, you haven't paid anything yet. Yummy doesn't ask for money every month, but for each major release, ie nothing yet.

2016-03-04 15:09:00 +0000 UTCYes this is getting annoying, I've been paying for two months I don't care if it's buggy or glitchy because that's the point of us, we are going to tell you what we like and don't like and then you fix it. We will be happy to play the game and you can probably progress faster because you don't have to look for everything so it's Perfect
2016-03-04 14:54:27 +0000 UTCFor the play through testing isn't this what alpha and beta testers for? And you have people literally paying to do so.
