The reference to the Bulgarian secret service and umbrellas refers to the murder of a Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov, who was killed on a London street and it was suspected he’d been shot by a poison dart from a weapon hidden in an umbrella…. Late 1970s. Think they decided in the end that it hadn’t been in an umbrella….
