2024-11-21 03:51:28 +0000 UTCSo, the name made you chuckle, but CRISPR is an actual thing, not something made up for the show. It's an acronym for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats and could be used in things like cancer treatment for genetic modification to make a patient's immune system respond differently...by not allowing the T cells to get tricked by cancer cells. It also could be used to screen for and treat some genetic disorders with hope that, in the future, it may be able to be used to correct damaged DNA strands early enough to prevent things like permanent disability due to genetic mutations prior to it causing things like total loss of sight or hearing. It's all a legal and ethical quagmire. Treatment has not received FDA approval for widespread use and is currently (I think) considered experimental and only available through clinical trials,, but I believe it has already been successfully used to take patients with severe sickle cell anemia and turn them asymptomatic. Neat stuff. Not saying that gene modification should be pushed through immediately, but it has the potential to save some lives and to better the quality of so many more, so I don't think it should be discounted wholesale out of fear of "playing God"

The Luke scenes definitely reminded me of Logan scenes when he got the adamantium in his bones. I can never get use to Diamondback replacing Cottonmouth but glad that you are enjoying him at least. Glad to see these reactions again.
