Oh, I forgot one part in the above explanation. The Stillborn Pheonix also has revelation energy which allows Randidly to make fairly accurate predictions based on currently available information. Nether + Alternate timelines + Revelation energy = all the pieces necessary to predict exactly how the future is going to turn out and perfectly control the outcome. It's just a shame that he can only do this subconsciously and while under the influence of the Visage of Obsession. He could probably avoid all of the drawbacks from whatever's about to happen by being off in the wilderness somewhere when the patron arrives if he was a little more conscious of exactly what it was the visage has just done.

2021-06-09 10:36:16 +0000 UTCOh no, I know exactly how this is all going to go down now. The entire thing was foreshadowed with the making of Claudette's image. About the only thing up in the air on this whole thing is how many by-stander casualties there are going to be. So, Randidly made Claudette's image while using his visage of obsession. We know from the last time he used that fate piece that it does NOT like to think inside the box. Randidly also has access to nether, which is the energy of memories and connections, and access to his Grim Chimera ability to peer into alternate time-lines. With that background, he worked the real Lizakh into her image, a people who worshiped the patron of the sun. He also gave Clarent, the sword at the heart of her image, the specific back-story of slaying beings who had the power of the sun and devouring their power to use it for the sake of it's own strength. On top of this, in the back-story, he specifically worked in D'min and Yu'ulk, with D'min being the one who ultimately defeats Yn'ulk who is now possessed by the patron. On top of that, the story within the image grants D'min the ability to wield Clarent. Yeah, the stage is perfectly set here and I'm pretty sure this was all part of the plan for the visage of obsession. I think this arc is going to end with Clarent getting a 4th and even more powerful star from one of the most powerful beings in the nexus, and doing so is going to make all of the grounds-setting Randidly did during the refinement come alive and give Claudette the ability to wield strength on par with the patron her image just devoured.
