So does that mean individuals from earlier cohorts had an easier time experimenting with Nether? Past Aether was more free of taint.

Be careful about long term low levels of pain as they're hard to get rid of and can build up to be debilitating. If you feel like that is happening look up any number of elbow and wrist strengthening exercises for anything called golfers/tennis/climbers elbow. All of those sports and many others run into the issue of over use injuries in the elbow and wrist.
