Q&A Questions Needed!

Hello! I hope you’re doing wonderfully. I am making a Q&A video for Up and Atom, and would love for my patrons (you!) to submit any questions you’d like me to answer. They can be about anything. What’s it like being a science YouTuber? How do I make the videos? Why is the sky blue? You guys get first priority because the channel wouldn’t be possible without you! Just comment your questions on this post. Thank you and see you soon!

Would/might it be that we get an answer thats one of two(?) things...like how light is either a wave or not?

If there was one math-related thing you could remove from the universe, what would it be?

Quantum computers - More insight into a real problem which it can solve. How do someone know the solution has arrived. I cant visualize it still ... Like in classical sense , a computer if it has done its task ,the program would reach end of code which would probably print "result is ..." . In quantum computers - how can one know the state ?

Hi, Jade. Two years ago, you made a video entitled "An Argument Against Reality - Why You Can't Trust Your Senses". I think it's worthwhile to explore this further. I would argue that, for the purposes of our species, we see the reality that benefits us, which is why we tend to understand that, if we walk off a cliff we fall, or that we must eat, but that we must avoid consuming certain organisms.

What are your thoughts on Fermi's Paradox?

If you could travel back in time which scientist(s) would you like to meet and what would you ask him/her?

Armin Quast

If you could have the answer to just one mystery of the universe granted to you, which one would you choose?

John Shioli

If you could interview any scientist, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you ask?

Vincent Zalzal

For me, it's probably the first time I realized that, when I'm looking at the stars, I'm actually looking into the past.

Vincent Zalzal

What is your most memorable "aha moment" while learning about science?

Vincent Zalzal

I was thinking about how big a computer could possibly be. Could you calculate how big sphere of solid silicon could be at the point where it can not be solid, due to the pressure created by gravitational force?

How do you feel about questions that show people have different perceptions or experiences of things (e.g. "what color is a tennis ball?")? If you don't disfavor them, how do you pronounce "Minkowski" (as in Hermann Minkowski or Minkowski space)?

Jeremy

Chardin proposed the Omega Point, Asimov asked The Last Question. What is your interpretation of how energy and mass will interact with time as the universe reaches its conclusion.

A. Duncan

Schrodinger's Cat is often used to explain probability. Why did Schrodinger use a cat? The concept can be explained without harming any animal as some people do. One story is that Schrodinger proposed the Gedanken with the cat to ridicule the idea that observing the result of a probability experiment causes the result. Further, the story claims he picked a cat because there was a significant woman in his life he didn't like and she had several cats. Could you find out if, in fact, people have been repeating Schrodinger's Cat as informative when it might have been meant to be sarcasm?

The Schwarzschild Radius of a Black Hole was discovered by Karl Schwarzschild while he was in a WWI trench. It would not be possible for you to show the entire calculation in a video, but could you present what's known about what Schwarzschild was thinking and what inputs he used to set up and solve the G.R. Field Equations? Why does rotation of a mass make any difference?

I have a poster in the making of Dirac's Bar. Your artists can draw in the people I have named and put Jade in the middle! As you enter Dirac's Bar, Heisenberg has reached the middle of Beethoven's Sonata No. 15 in D major. Use this link to see a sketch: https://www.mountainlake.com/mlp/films/lambda/diracs-bar-tiny.pdf If you were to enter Dirac's Bar and join in the conversations, what would you hear? What would you ask? What would you like to order from the menu?

Scott Ready

Given that time is relative, what are some ways we might define what "now" is?

Bruce England

What principles allow slime mold to achieve efficiency without the use of logic? What do Adaptive Dissipative Structures look like from a mathematical perspective? Now that you've busted out the minifigures, what Lego sets do you have? Any book recommendations for someone interested in the content you create?

Millennial Glacier

It's not really intelligent, and you can actually ask it these questions :)

Michael Seydel

How do you organize your notes? A year ago I was using Google Docs and have switched to Obsidian, and my mind is blown.

Michael Seydel

are there any science topics that you find too daunting to tackle?

George Fletcher

What experiences in your youth moved you to become a scientist? and then to become a youtuber? There is nothing more interesting than an origin story.

Gabe Roche

Who is your favorite philosopher?

Tyler Simms

What got you interested in the philosophical side of science?

Tim Ludwig

What are the differences between the three main fusion reactor types? Tokamak, Stellarator and, Helion’s linear reactor?

John Spalding

Why did the big bang happen? Did time begin before it?

Roland Gibson

What made you choose science communication as a line of work? I love your coverage of maths. How do you select your topics? Is it hard to find a topic that can be presented to a broad audience and still isn't well covered by others? Aren't you tempted to go deeper into something that people without STEM education may not appreciate?

Piotr Kłos

Where is your shadow?

Rick DeWitt

How does ChatGPT work and is it really intelligent? Can it "think" (whatever that means exactly)? Nice photo of you!

Jesper de Jong

Will AI ever be able to develop novel theories and design experiments to test those theories?

Stephen Britt

What do you think scientists can do to better communicate their research to the general public?

William Greenbank
