NAIDOC
Added 2020-11-11 05:36:29 +0000 UTCIt’s NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week here in Australia & to commemorate the occasion I drew 2 wonderful indigenous people.
Actor Ernie Dingo & Singer Thelma Plum.
Ernie has had some controversy in more recent years but when I was young I thought he was pretty awesome. I read the book his wife wrote about him growing up in the 1950s & 60s & the hardships that came with being a young, poor, aboriginal man.
Thelma is an extremely talented singer/ songwriter & I’d recommend her some “Better in Black” if you would like to check her out.
There’s a lot I could say about NAIDOC & my personal feelings about how Australia treats our First People but I’ll leave that be!
Side note: I don’t draw realistically on digital so this was a bit weird.
