Technical probleme

Hello there, so I got a problem

Basically I've been working all day on an animation and I had it 95% done and when I came back. The computer had a message for me:

"CPU overheating, check fan"

So maybe it's a fan problem or maybe the CPU is dead. People advised me not to try again as that might damage the computer. The computer is running very slow and after a few minutes of idle time it shuts down instantly.

These things always seem to happen at the wrong times. The weekend where businesses are closed and a day off in New Year.

My truest apologies but I'm not going to be able to wrap up the New Year or follow the program. I also don't have a second computer, a problem I will be correcting soon.

I will keep you posted but I presume this will all be resolved around the week of new years. I hope you understand 😦

As long as the fans are rotating and you have many fans you should worry about CPU. If'll you buy a new one maybe buy bigger cooling to spread the heat, so it'll live longer. Always do a test on CPU temp and fans speed, usually 400-800rpm+ is enough. Put the PC on the floor, where the air is a bit cooler. Anyway check temps if everything is running as it should and you should know what is faulty.

Its gotta be the pump then! Do you have the stock cooler?

Just fixed this issue on my pc last month, in my case it was my AIO water cooler, swapped the part got some new thermal paste and did a thorough cleaning and it runs better than ever

Themisfit34

I can wait, better to resolve computer issues than press on.

Yes ive watercooling systeme . Its not a custom so its not the fluid to change . I notice than it make way less sound the usual as if something didnt work . I see all fan run but it make less sound

The price is not a big deal . Im stress about the time it will take to repear

Hooves-art

Maybe the water cooler pump died!!

Computer troubles suck! Sorry. I hope the fix won't be too expensive.

This sounds like a heat dissipation issue. CPUs have some basic self protection features to avoid them cooking themselves. It knows it's current temperature and the recent history of how the temperature has changed. The CPU has control of the fan speed and normally this is sufficient to maintain temp. If temps continue to rise despite the fans being at max then the CPU will throttle its clock-speed to limit how much heat it's generating. (It'll also do this if it sees a sharp rise in temperature.) The computer runs sluggishly because the CPU has literally slowed down. The good news is that your computer almost certainly hasn't damaged itself and the various fixes are all cheap and simple. (Cooked chips are pretty obvious; visual artifacts, system instability, generally fucked, if it even runs at all). Usually the first step is de-dusting but you're already on top of that! Step two is to order some new thermal paste. That alone could be the problem, after a few years it gets kinda crusty, doesn't conduct heat well. Other than that the only wear item is the fans/pumps. (IDK if you use liquid cooling or not. Personally I've always been fine with air cooling, just add more case fans) I wish you luck with the troubleshooting! And thank you for all the amazing content you've made!

Hahaha iv always loved that gif

Its most likely your AIO. if your cpu was dead it will refuse to boot up period, either your fans in your radiator arent spinning, you need new thermal paste, or your pump ran out of liquid/got clogged, therefore its not circulating coolant and causing your pc to overheat and shut off.

SirWiiSkrub

Have you tried putting a house fan up in front of your case with that glass plate off and seeing what happens. If it turns off again it's not a heating issue cause your pc most likely works of temperature so if you keep that down I should not turn off if it's the fan. Edit the thermal paste idea is a good idea

tommygun10

Definitely sounds like a fan issue, new thermal paste wouldn’t hurt either

Zealot

Could be that the cooling paste need renewing on the cpu

silver90

I clean it every years . But i dont thing the dust was the probleme . Component was buy in 2018 for most of them . Maybe the cool vent was just out

When is the last time you opened up your computer and blew all the dust out of it?
