011 Reborn as the Third Kazekage
Added 2025-01-16 14:10:32 +0000 UTCThe moment Danzo led his forces toward Lake Tsuki, a trap aimed squarely at Arashi had already been set in motion. From the initial ferocious attacks to the subsequent strikes on supply lines and the Sannin personally guarding the logistics route, everything was meticulously planned to corner Arashi in this trap—and eliminate him.
"You Konoha folks sure are ruthless," Arashi said coldly, his eyes scanning the group before him.
"To take me down, you've sacrificed so many lives. But even without me, you'll lose this war all the same."
As a commander, he noted, Danzo had disregarded logistics, neglected his flanks, and launched a long-range raid of over 2,200 kilometers, sustaining continuous assaults for three days without concern for casualties. It was madness. According to incomplete statistics, Konoha had already lost over two thousand shinobi, all to take out one man. It was the epitome of "a general's success is built on a mountain of bones." Only an obsessive maniac could pull off something like this.
"No," Danzo replied, suddenly emerging from the shadows. "You're too modest. You're far more dangerous than you give yourself credit for."
Danzo's tone shifted to that of reluctant admiration. "As a leader, you're qualified—no, you're exceptional. I've studied your history and your actions since becoming Kazekage. Your strategies are meticulous, your vision precise, and your decisiveness unmatched. Even back when you served as the bodyguard to Shamon, you earned the respect of the clans and factions of Sunagakure. Your reputation among frontline shinobi is unparalleled.
"You opposed the war before it began because you knew the great nations would inevitably intervene. Once the war began, you single-handedly defeated Sakumo Hatake on the western front and made the bold decision to withdraw from the Sands Oasis on the northern front. Such judgments require insight, influence, and courage.
"You're a far greater challenge than Shamon ever was—a Kazekage capable of altering the tide of war. That's why you have to die today, Arashi. For the sake of Konoha's future generations, I can't let you remain a threat. Sacrifices are necessary—after all, what is a ninja's life if not disposable?"
Danzo's words made even the Sannin exchange uneasy glances.
Arashi smirked. "How about I represent Sunagakure and propose an alliance with Konoha?"
Danzo froze, his lips twitching into a wry grin. "You just gave me another reason to kill you."
"What now?"
"You're shameless. Someone like you could actually achieve great things alive."
"But what if you can't keep me here?" Arashi asked, rolling his shoulder, his arm nearly numb from the blood loss caused by the bindings.
"Do it now!" Nara Shikachō shouted, his face twisting in alarm.
Before the words fully left his mouth, the iron sand adhering to the curved towers around Arashi began to shift. The black grains coalesced into floating rings that encircled him in rhythmic pulses. Some of the iron sand formed bizarre patterns, emitting a crackling sound reminiscent of static electricity on a winter's day.
Arashi stood within the towers, his hair spiking out in all directions like a porcupine. His eyes gleamed with intensity, giving him a godlike appearance. The iron rings spun faster and faster as a massive black sphere rose to the top of one tower.
Crack! A lightning bolt as thick as a barrel shot from the sphere, striking Shikachō and turning him into a charred husk in an instant.
"Danzo, thank you for funding this little experiment of mine!" Arashi roared, his voice brimming with excitement. "I've been wanting to play with this for years, but the costs were always prohibitive. Behold, the Soviet Tesla Coil!"
With Arashi's cry, arcs of electricity erupted from the sphere, roaring like a frenzied beast.
As an 80s kid reincarnated into this world, Red Alert was an eternal childhood memory. A Tesla Coil, the iconic Soviet defensive structure, was something Arashi knew inside and out. In one knockoff game he'd played back on Earth, a similar electromagnetic defense tower had been designed with a peculiar shape—just like the five curved towers now surrounding him.
(T/N: The Tesla Coil was a Soviet defensive structure that first saw combat production in Second World War. It used a combination of electricity generation and atmosphere ionization to hurl artificial lightning bolts at hostile attackers.)
Back then, he had stumbled across a video mentioning how Soviet scientists during the Brezhnev era had experimented with a weapon capable of firing 700,000-volt electromagnetic pulses. Although its practicality was limited due to range issues and friendly fire concerns, the concept had stuck with Arashi. He had even downloaded the design as his laptop wallpaper.
After his reincarnation and mastery of Magnet Release, Arashi had tried replicating it from memory. However, the same issues of cost and range had made it unfeasible. Today, though, with Danzo footing the bill, he couldn't resist giving it a shot.
"Did you think a few magnets could counter my iron sand? Ridiculous! Each grain of my sand is a magnet. Do you even know the Ostertag Rule? The Faraday Law? Left hand, right hand—didn't you even finish elementary school?"
As the Tesla Coil prepared to unleash another surge, Tsunade charged in, her body covered in her Hundred Healings markings. Ignoring the searing lightning, she smashed one of the towers with a single punch, reducing it to rubble. The entire system went dark.
"You're impressive—you could be Hokage," Arashi said, giving her a thumbs-up.
Encased in a blue Lightning Release armor, Arashi left behind only a fleeting afterimage as he disappeared.
"He knows Lightning Release too? Isn't that the Raikage's technique?" Danzo muttered, stunned.
...
Back at camp, Arashi was immediately surrounded by the elder council led by Chiyo, who berated him like a group of angry mothers. After repeated apologies and promises to avoid such dangerous experiments, they finally let him go.
But before anyone could catch their breath, Arashi dropped another bombshell.
"What? You want to ally with Konoha?!"
"Yes, why not?" Arashi replied with a calm smile.
Chaos erupted. Some protested, invoking the memory of the late Second Kazekage Shamon. Others argued that too much blood had been shed to simply let it go. A few even demanded pressing the advantage to strike Konoha while they were weakened.
Only Chiyo, who had been forewarned, slammed the table.
"Enough! The Kazekage hasn't even finished speaking, and you're already shouting like fishwives. Sit down!"
The room fell silent.
Still smiling, Arashi continued, "In this world, there are no eternal enemies or absolute friends—only eternal interests." His words left the room stunned. Even Chiyo secretly gave him a thumbs-up.
"We've already won this war. But what have we gained? Killing more Konoha ninja? That will only deepen our mutual hatred, creating an endless cycle of vengeance. Such a situation would be disastrous for Sunagakure."
The crowd listened intently as Arashi explained, "Konoha's resources and manpower dwarf ours. Winning this war is already a huge stroke of luck for us. If they lose this war, they can still recover for the next. We can't.
"In fact," he added, "the Daimyō of the Land of Wind has already stopped funding our war effort. We can't afford another battle."
Shock rippled through the room, followed by hushed murmurs.
"Moreover," Arashi pressed, "Iwagakure, Kirigakure, and Kumogakure are all preparing for war. A new shinobi world war is inevitable."
The murmurs grew louder until Arashi slammed the table for silence.
"We must withdraw from this conflict, rebuild our strength, and use this opportunity to grow Sunagakure's power before the storm arrives!"
(T/N: I honestly don't like this physics stuff, but we have what we have.)
