The Vectrex Story

GOOOOD LORRRRDYYYYYY, it feels like a while since I did one of these, and yes, that's because it HAS been.

I've got a tonne of videos that have been building up in the back of my brain for years, and it's time to start ticking them off. This is one of those videos.

The Vectrex is a console that has always fascinated me. Mainly because it looked like a miraculous item from the future, yet was released in the early 80s. How could a machine that mimicked the arcade so well, be on our kitchen tables so early in the decade? Well, this video takes a look and uncovers the fascinating story of MB's wonderful machine.

Thank you for your support, and enjoy!

The Vectrex Story

Comments

Despite being born after the launch of the Vectrex, I didn't become aware of its existence until the mid-2000s, and even at that point in time the Vectrex was the most expensive retro system to get into collecting for, so I ended up going for other systems I missed out on first like the Atari 2600 and Colecovision. To this day, my only experience with the Vectrex is through emulation but I'm hoping I'm able to get a hold of an actual Vectrex at some point in the future!

I remember playing with a Vectrex for the first time in 2009 (15 years ago, I'm scared) and it immediatly gave me the impression of something different, something one step ahead: seeing this video reminded my why, so thank you, and also reminded me of that beautiful, beautiful speaking platformer, which was, to be fair, truly unbelievable stuff for its time.
