Domesday Project

I've been meaning to do this video for a number of years, mainly because I found the whole BBC Domesday Project so utterly fascinating in the 80s.
But the thing which really stunned me, was the ability to walk abound various UK towns in the 1980s using this equipment, just like you can with Google Street View.
Join me in exploring this incredible 1980s technology.
Holy crap! I had NO idea this was a thing, or even possible! If I'd have seen stuff like this running on the BBCs at our school my mind would have been blown. I was staggered by CD-Rom based encyclopaedias circa 94-95 ish but in many ways this is more impressive and comprehensive, ten years earlier! And using the teletext data possibility on an analogue format? Genius. Also, as a proud Welshman, that was a real trip to see Brecon in the 80s - awesome that you compared it with Google maps and so cool the sports shop is still going strong! That was weirdly moving. Just, wow. I really hope this gets properly archived and we get a full emulator so that we can explore this in an accurate fashion soon. I'd pay good money to the BBC for a copy.
