Early 59 - Speculation Requested && QnA Question

EDIT: I've attached the earlier version with the confusion (Eldrik initially thought the room in the last panel was in the same world). After this week I'll switch places of the pages.

So, this (very) early page is being posted at the $15 level because I am hoping to hear what folks infer from this page / are confused about with enough before the public update to tweak the page if needed.

In a couple days I'll be posting it for all patrons, but I figured splitting it like this gives me 2 groups worth of testing instead of one. When I make that post I'll update this one to be an earlier version of page 59, before I cleared something up with Eldrik (and attach this one as well, if we end up tweaking something between now and the later posting). ;P

----------------------

In other news, the Q&A vote was basically an instant landslide victory, so I'm planning on having that be finished by next weekend (so we can post that to avoid a ~2-week gulf between the super-early 59 and 60 in the patreon).

I'm wondering if I should have the answer be in pictorial-diary format or translated plant thought-speak.  Thoughts? (Willow-Palm is being asked about its journal).

I'm going to try to make pictograms work, I think.

Also, I've attached the earlier version before some stuff was cleared up.

So! I've decided to (aside from spelling change) keep page as is when showing it to the rest of the patrons. The general direction of the speculation so far seems to be in the direction I was hoping (although I'm wondering if being B&W is causing confusion regarding water plants VS ceiling plant). Dunno if folks want me to weigh in more on specific theories or not (I mean, in this post).

GrimFC

It wouldn't help with this page - the ceiling plant and the seaweed aren't sharing their plans with each other.

GrimFC

Could also use a fancy smoking pipe... even with nowhere to actually put it.

I forgot to offer the idea for the notebook earlier: I like the idea of just little pictograms being used while it acts like its talking and explaining the things its pointing to, keeping it a little cheeky. But if it could actually telepathically communicate, that potentially could give a ton of insight into what its up to, possibly helping out with what is going on in this page as well.

Tokamara

Aside from being more blatant about what exactly is going on I don't see much that could be done. As long as the speculation is sorta in the general right direction I'm alright with the page - there are pretty much 2 things I am hoping people vaguely infer from this page.

GrimFC

Interesting responses so far... any other comments?

GrimFC

I'm not going to repeat all the theories already mentioned by others but will chime in to say this might confuse a large number of readers IMO; I'm not sure how it could be addressed/streamlined.

Okay, so for right now I have one major theory going through my head. Going to put two out there, see if anyone else had something along the same lines... Theory 1 (The Side Note): This involves the lotus flowers the plants are growing using the milk of their victims. The plant is possibly trying to recreate victims, either as a means of recyclable food, a way to lure in others, or to do as this says and "smuggle the symbol" with the Theseus Paradox. Heck, who's to say each vine there isn't another adventurer that messed up and was eaten? Theory 2 (The Big One): Back on page 15, Katoka (the gal with the nose chain) called the viewers "the Diners." Here we see it again, along with several other books about hacking, ghosts, speaking crazy, killing businesses... so my theory is this. Someone on the outside has, through a chain of magic circles, begun communicating with not only this plant, but several other monsters involved in the overarching story (World 156432) and is secretly coordinating something beyond what the Master and Diners are aware of. Freedom from the show via reincarnating elsewhere? A way to bring back/move around victims? And with the Theseus Paradox being brought up, my answer would be this is possibly just the current avenue of testing and research in world 156432. Who knows what other things are being tested in the other worlds

Tokamara

On misspelling: Ah, good catch. I didn't notice the 'e' was missing. Anyway, I'm going to wait until more people weigh in before making any comments. >.>

GrimFC

It's "Theseus", despite the misspelling on the blackboard.

So my grand theory: The plant is conducting an experiment to find the unknown part of the equation. It solved the soul bits + memory record, so I assume the victims it digests/absorbs have those parts preserved and it tries to recreate them, but ultimately it is trying to find that missing piece (using the people as test subjects). The ultimate goal of the experiment is to find the missing piece that solves the Thesus Paradox and is a true recreation of a being, essentially allowing for functional immortality.

veeshan123

Well the Thesus Paradox deals with the idea that if you slowly replace all the original parts of something with more or less identical parts until eventually none of the original is remaining, is it still the same thing? So whatever the heck this is, I assume it is potentially seeking an answer to that paradox. Given it seems to mention memory shards, the something is a person I am guessing.

veeshan123

Well if you didn't have questions before, you definitely will after this goes public. I like it, but feel like this is definitely one of those long term ones who's payoff will be pretty far down the line. Edit: On the plant Q&A, if possible it communicating by pages would be little more creative. However you'd like to do it, but my opinion.
