Snake Games News #18

Greetings, patreon comrades! How are you doing? We hope, great.

And we are busy with compiling and testing now.

Oh, that’s pretty exciting development period! So, it wouldn’t hurt to devote an unscheduled newsletter to it.

Imagine. You’ve drawn, written, translated and programmed everything in time! And you even have a couple of days left to test everything before the release date . You’re doing great! The work could be considered done, because it is just an improvement of the things made and tested the last time.

Well, what could possibly go wrong?...

Anything!

The old graphic elements might not match the new ones, so you have to redraw them from scratch or even think of the new ways of using them. New enemies suddenly destroy the balance. The logic of the new quests becomes questionable, and you have to rewrite them. Game mechanics start acting up in the last place you’d expect, etc., etc. You have to fix it all real fast. And then test again. And extra day or two no longer looks like huge amount of time to you.

“Ah compiling and testing, ye art heartless bitches!”

But don’t you think we’re panicking or sinking into desperation. That we’re whining or complaining about unfortunate destiny of the creators of funny games. Nothing like that. It’s not the first time of us testing something, so we are kinda prepared (as far as anyone can be prepared for surprises).

After all, we decided to test the demo before putting all those mechanics into the main game because we expected surprises.

So, why are we telling you all this stuff?

That’s because a few remaining days could be not enough for us to handle all the problems. So, we want to warn you beforehand, dear patreons! Of course, we’ll do all we can to avoid that! But please don’t get upset if we take a few days or a week of work from summer. Trust us, we’re not going to relax by the pool before finishing and giving it all to you for ̶f̶u̶r̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶b̶e̶t̶a̶-̶t̶e̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ your entertainment! And of course, we won’t stop informing you on how the things are going.

Good luck to us all!
