We finally test the UNIBIT (step drill) slug!
Added 2025-10-02 22:57:28 +0000 UTC
We often imagine what a certain projectile will do, and the Unibit has been something MANY people have asked us to test out. Brian stepped up and made it happen! Thanks for supporting us on Patreon! I'll be posting another sticker give-away later this week with the new Danny sticker. Please be sure to enter the contest - my goal is to give away the stickers to everyone.
It does have a cut on both sides, not just one (Jeff mentioned below)
I wonder if the tip had been cut off and the projectile were sent out facing backwards if it would have worked, but then it wouldn't be the right way to try to "drill" the target.

It has a cutout on both sides so it is very uniform and balanced.

I wonder if the tip had been surrounded with lead - sort of poured into the shell (not really - it would melt; just "sort of" poured in) around the tip, it would have made the projectile more nose heavy and stable. At a 1:36 twist, though, a long projectile like that would be hard to stabilize - even neglecting the fact that the unibit itself is not radially symmetrical because of the cutout down its length. Just a thought. Certainly turned that wastebasket into landfill. And oh those poor plastic ducks . . .

I can’t imagine how you could get those bits balanced rotationally with the cutout on one side. Without balancing the mass around the center of rotation, they couldn’t stabilize, in my opinion.

Accurate or not, I love the look of it. Kind of like a flying unicorn without wings. Taking the tumbling in consideration it might be a drunk flying unicorn.
Anyways it was another great video.
Also love your new sticker designs! Really looking forward to win one of those sets!❤️

Jeff - Very little chance of accuracy at distance with this. The idea of the epoxy may be useful for future projects... It needed to be tried. Best Regards, and thanks for the video... Steve
