Testing the Copperhead Fragmenting Slugs

The newest design by Tim Hamilton - the ballistic machinist.   Made of copper and aluminum,  I'm sure these will be pricey.   I used FS12 gas seals and Tim believes using the stiffer x12x gas seals will solve several minor issues we encountered.

thanks everyone for your support!

Awesome content, I'll buy these once perfected and for sale!. You had another video with steel slugs and lead bands, maybe the lead bands in place of the fragmenting o rings?

Chris Cherry

I have one too. Still need to blast it. thanks!

TAOFLEDERMAUS

thank you!

I have an old cordless drill I would like to see rapidly disassembled while chooching along in high speed. How do I send it to you?

John p.

One of your best videos. All the different mediums was interesting. Seeing the path in the clear gel was VERY cool.

Spinning the block so you can can actually see the paths of the petals looked really good. And now I'm probably going to go add myself to some more lists in the UK, because I'm curious as to how much that gel costs.

Chris Crowther

Cool. I also have a question. How and when is California's lead ammo ban going to affect you?

Fudmottin

The o-rings are just keeping the slug centered in the barrel without any metal to metal contact. I have some Russian steel slugs that we'll test soon that use lead rifling bands in a similar way the o-rings are being used on these.

TAOFLEDERMAUS

That was absolutely excellent. I was thinking about the o-rings as I watched. Could they be made out of copper or mild spring steel and still get a good seal? Automotive piston engines use metal compression rings (and I think the oil rings are also metal). Also the three gas seal rings on the AR-15 bolt are metal. So it's just a question of them being able to snap into place, form a good seal, and not tear up the inside of the barrel.

Glad to see the addition of the gel, It gives a good view of the performance of the projectile.

Dr. Strangelove

Very interesting! Keep those videos coming.

You need to do the Paul Harrell meat target to test hunting slugs and at 50 yards jell test at that range as well to get a better idea how they would work on game 4 and 2 legged just a thought .

Gary A

Congratulations on the clear bugger. That test would have been incomplete without Danny’s feather.

Brian Armstrong

Those are works of art.
