The Mistress of the Copper Mountain (lineart)

In this picture, I really depicted her somewhat like a lamia, half lizard and half human. Although she can be in any form at her discretion.

Candra

Candra was the one who told me about her, back last Fall in 2021 when I was asking for the drow crystalline gardens, she mentioned her and I went looking for more information. I was very lucky in that I was able to find a book of Russian magic tales that had complete stories about her. I was able to find a lot of art on her online too. I asked Candra to draw her how she wanted to, and I'm not disappointed in the results. I have no idea about the cat though, will look into it. As for the tail, I believe it's Candra's reference to the fact the Mistress of Copper Mountain appears as a giant lizard in the story at a few points. So she probably still has her legs as well and isn't a lamia, since she's depicted as changing into a giant lizard and being able to command the smaller lizards of her area. If you want I can share you my google drive folder of all the Mistress of Copper Mountain art I gave to Candra for references/inspiration, just let me know.

I really love the design you went for her! She looks mysterious and enchanting, with many treasures and secrets. Those are some nice looking crystals, and I like the design of her robes, especially the scale-like bodice she has. It's going to look great in color no doubt. Didn't expect the cat, but that explains why no rats will show on this picture :D Unfortunately wikipedia doesn't have an article on Cat Ears, and the book of Russian Magic Tales I got has a few stories by Pavel Bazhov they include The Mistress of Copper Mountain, The Stone Flower, The Mountain Master, and Golden Hair), but not "Cat Ears". Guess I have some googling to do! As for the giant tail, I suspect it's because in the tale version I read, she appeared as a giant lizard for her disguise. That's what I assume it is anyway.

Thank you for including the history of this character - I've never heard of the Mistress of Copper Mountain before. It's surprisingly rare to hear about mythical creatures from Europe over in America, so bits of history and culture like this are a fascinating look at other societies' legends. Her tail does make me wonder how much of her body looks human under her gown though. Is she humanoid (2 arms, 2 legs, etc.) with a tail, or does she have a body like a lamia?
