Bold of you to admit to being complete scum.

Zachary Totz

Only an observation really. Dilbert was gone from all media, like, the next day. And yet guys like Harvey Weinstein seem to linger forever. There Oughta Be A Law! (Oh, wait, there is.)

Jon Benson

Speaking truth in this woke world is always condemned by the mindless mob

I tried to read his book a couple of years ago after hearing him interviewed on a radio program. The interview made me wonder how someone who came through in his strips as a person while poking fun at corporate culture and everything associated with it could express such narrow minded and intolerant views. I couldn't finish his book, as it lacked any basis and path of understanding. I do still enjoy his strips but that doesn't mean I enjoy the man. He seems to have more in common with the pointy haired boss now, later in life.

Steven Sutton

Ah, gravity. I assume he shared his "theory" that everything in the universe is constantly growing, so objects don't "fall" due to gravity but rather since things get bigger, the space between them gets smaller? (That one's just headache-inducing.)

Brian Perler

He's always been a misogynist; I assume he'll hit peak crazy soon and add in some grotesque antisemitism, that always seems to be the next stop. It's a damn shame he's such an awful person.

FilloryCitrus

OK, I'm revising my opinion with new information.

Stephen Gilberg

The wording of that poll is taken from alt-right trolling. It's not in any way innocuous, it was weaponized as a deliberate attack on Black people in 2017: From Variety: "Adams cited a survey that found nearly half of Black people do not agree with the statement, “It’s okay to be white.” The Anti-Defamation League has called the phrase a “hate symbol” that was popularized in late 2017 as a trolling campaign on 4chan."

i don't like Ted Nugent, but i love his live version of Great White Buffalo. I ignore what Scott Adams says and try to enjoy Dilbert every day. There were times 20 years ago where Dilbert's boss and my boss were so alike in dumb excuses and actions (but not in appearance.). Those strips told me I was not alone in the world and others suffered the same stupidity.

He'd been getting less and less hinged for a while now. I got into an online argument with him about whether gravity was scientific (Newtonian *or* General Relativity) a decade or two back. I ditched all my Dilbert books when I moved to Vancouver three years ago, his subsequent development having soured the experience of reading the older stuff (which had lots of good gags).

James Redekop

If he had just expressed concern about the poll results, that would've been making a decent point, and it would've been OK. But he went way beyond that, and that's what got him in trouble.

Bob Alexander

To quote Elmer Fudd, "good widdance to bad wubbish."

JoeStrike

No, he was telling his "truth;" here in 2023 well-known people can now openly spout racist garbage that a few decades ago you could only whisper in the backroom of redneck bars.

JoeStrike

I first encountered him after the 2016 election when he was arguing with a journalist who was debunking election fraud claims. Scott kept taunting the journalist that history would prove him right but everything he claimed has been proven false. Since then I just know to ignore anything associated with him.

Riley Williams II

I don't know if Adams was always an unhinged lunatic, but I first noticed him acting like one about eight years ago, and he got a lot worse extremely quickly. Honestly, the only thing that I find surprising about the current situation is that it took him this long to get there.

Brian Perler

I think he meant to make a decent point by turning an existing extreme on its head. It's just that few people can take that anymore.

Stephen Gilberg

Never meet your heroes. Never ask them what the song/book/art was about to them when they created it. It will never be the same as what it means to you and their opinions are theirs, and likely not yours.

Yer pal Mikey

He’s been spiraling down an alt-right rabbit hole for a while now

Joel Kreissman

I don’t see any controversy. He’s a racist troll who said racist things and papers who did not want their brand associated with that pulled his strip. It’s only his sense of aggrieved entitlement that is making this in any way controversial
