2022-11-01 23:06:36 +0000 UTCI was being laid off from a job I’d had for years and the HR person said “yes this is upsetting but for many it’s the first step to something better.” To which I replied “yes and for some it’s the first step to the refrigerator carton over the subway grate”. I’m not usually quick on my feet verbally so I do remember that one. The HR woman was not pleased.

(As an aside, he's one of those "un-google-able" people, since a TV show had a character by that name, and any google search is swamped by hits for the character.) He was worried he was going to bomb a test, so I said "that would be Ron's swan song".
