Finally a MASSIVE DOWNPOUR (the biggest drought seen in decades)

INEVITABLY 😂 the rains finally came. Some local farmers say this is the biggest drought in 100 years. Crazy to have such a big rain in July. Seems like the seasons are changing in recent years. El Niño began in June last year and ended in March this year. It occurs every 2 to 7 years and alters the world climate. So hopefully our yearly downpours are back.

What started as a small agricultural fire quickly developed into a huge inferno, burning an estimated 697 hectares of land. Just like January, this month has felt quite slow with the building works. We are still tinkering away at the compost toilet. The roof HAS been poured at least, so whilst waiting for that to dry, we’ve been trying to figure out the plumbing and creating a reed bed to clean the black water. Hello! We hope you’ve had a great start to the New Year 🥳 After completing the polytunnel, Robbie dived straight back into the compost toilet build, and is managing to lay one layer of blocks a day (the world’s slowest brickie 😅.) We've just started two huge, new projects this week, which we've been working all hours of the day on! With the days getting shorter, Robbie can often be seen at night hustling away under the light of his trusty head torch. Pat has been up here and we've been working together to make an enormous pond at the top of our land.
