If MTG has a problem with reading, then it's ablist to be a dick to her about it. However, it's the only word she messed up. She has obviously only ever heard the word spoken aloud and never seen it written before that day. She also didn't prepare for the speech, and that failure is on her. She has been booted off of all of her committee assignments (I'm not aware of her getting any back), so she has copious amounts of time to prepare, but she's too busy mocking everyone else. It's ablist to mock someone who struggles to read, but it's not ablist to mock someone who messes up a word. This doesn't appear to be a disability, so she deserves to be mocked.

If she has a script with words that she doesn't know how to pronounce then who wrote it for her and gave it to her to read without giving her any coaching on the reading of it? Or even if she had one of her staffers right it up for her the she not have anyone supporting her to prepare for delivering such prepared speeches that might correct her on pronunciation of incredibly common in trump's orbit? That she is a poor reader is one thing, but how does she come to be reading from a document with words she doesn't know how to read or pronounce in the first place?

It's unfortunately rare to see that by any public figure. You both consistently demonstrate your integrity, a value that is unfortunately not common, and I really respect that.

2024-02-12 05:47:30 +0000 UTCEvery time any sensible gun legislation is proposed the NRA (which we know has been compromised by Putin) and its bots say "All this will do is punish responsible gun owners". I say we seize on that and say "Well then we agree we should prosecute IRRESPONSIBLE gun owners" and get a whole slew of laws around that. People forget that the Sandy Hook shooter tried to buy legal guns, but was thwarted by the sensible gun laws. It was only his dipshit parents who were in a messy divorce who decided to try to "out-cool" each other and give their mentally disturbed son (who they knew was mentally disturbed) access to their gun closets. Both of them should have been prosecuted for manslaughter because their desire to get their son to pick them in a divorce was the direct cause of a mass shooting.

2024-02-11 18:05:12 +0000 UTCI think you guys need to realize that Youtube has centuries worth of videos uploaded every single day. They can't have a human review more than a percent of a percent of a percent. So either it's let bots flag dangerous misinformation and have humans review stuff at a slower pace (and prioritize truly dangerous things) or it's let harmful stuff stay up (like a zillion manifestos and medical advice that will kill people before a human can take it down). So cut Youtube some slack. If you want to see how much worse it could be, head over to X and click on any trending "politics" hashtag on any given day.
