I agree, but we do have an opportunity at the moment if we don't waste it. Before 1980, Evangelicals hated Catholics. They thought they were pagans who worshipped false idols. I'm not kidding. The abortion issue was strategically manufactured to bring together the Catholics and the Fundies into one large voting block. Now we have a chance to open up that old divide again. Make them suspicious of each other. We should sow discord and suspicion among them as often as we can. Remind the Fundies that Donald betrayed them and enshrined a Catholic majority. Make them fear the Catholic "take-over" more than they fear us. We need every advantage we can get, and this one has potential to really be effective.

I agree with Tom and Cecil that this election is of existential importance for the world at this point because of what a second Trump term would do, but one thing that they don't acknowledge is that Republican politics going back to Newt Gingrich has been tuning up that voting base to believe that any Democrat to hold office is an existential threat as well. That's what makes this such a terrible situation. The only hope I can glean from our current political landscape is that the raw numbers are not in favor of the GOP, and maybe withstanding a few more election cycles can rid us of the Trumpism that has taken over the Republican Party. But even then, I worry that the new Trumps of the GOP will succeed when he's gone.

A very frustrating and upsetting reality is that bc we have to spend all this time and various energy capital on trying to agree on democracy being a good thing, we must table and hold off on solutions for critical other issues. Triage is a cruel but pragmatic thing and we are in full triage mode for the country and will be for quite some time. He won’t stop running until he’s dead and that’s exacerbated by the fact that none of his criminal trials will even begin until, at best, late spring/early summer. By delaying these trials even if he loses 2024, he will have maximum incentive to keep running.

Immigration. A lot of Latinos want to get rid of the “WB’s”. Latino culture is full of misogynistic classist people. People of European Latin decent believe they’re white because they’re European decent not Latin American.

They want to kill the planet because they believe Jesus will return quicker. It’s not just money. Money might be secondary.
