Possessed Tress Demoness - Totally Stuffed Tier
I started this pic as a little sketch on a stream the other week, but I liked the idea enough that I thought it would be fun to finish it!
This Demoness is used to possessing people and causing mischief, but is taken off guard when her magic backfires a bit ;)
There's a little tape gag alt, I did for fun as well. It doesn't really match the gag-talk though, so I'm not sure how I feel about it! :D
I admire a lot of manga artists for doing a kind of loose style of inking, that still looks very precise and detailed.
Take Yoshikazu Yasuhiko for example, in his Gundam Origin manga. Or Kamome Shirahama,
who does Witch Hat Atelier, probably my favourite manga right now.
I tried to do this picture inspired by that sort of style.
I mostly never really know what sort of lineart style I will go for in a picture. Before I went completely digital, I used to work with fineliners a lot. Rendering everything out with 0.03 ink pens. Then I had a long period where I prefered to draw super loose. Nowadays I just cant seem to make up my mind.
A problem, I feel, with doing nicely inked pictures, is that you can very easily mess up nice inks in the coloring process. You can spend hours detailing a picture in the lineart, but then lose all that detail with a sloppy coloring job. And going too "computer color" looking on a picture that looks very traditional in the inking can often look quite strange and clashing.
This is why I, in this picture, tried to do highlights that felt drawn with a pen, and used a lot of textures in the color. Makes it more naturel.
