Love the reaction guys! I just want to share my thoughts on Nolan at this point in the story: Him as a Viltrumite is like a god, a being, who is almost indestructible, and lives for thousands of years. His perception of time is incomprehensible to mere mortals. I believe that to him, the 1 year of the lifespan of the bug people and our 70-80years of lifespan are just the same in the grand scheme of things especially to a being like him. And to him, he has spent a long time being depressed and mourning; and that sad montage of him going near the edge of a blackhole (being a literal edge lord) was him going through his grief. And when he saved the bug people, as he said, he felt a sense of purpose. By that time, he fell in love with his ladybug lady and wants to protect the bug people. He felt great shame that he can't go back to earth (a perfect being couldn't have made mistakes, right?) and he definitely too shameful to face Debbie and Art. And Cecil and the rest of the world would really have wanted justice for the genocide of the innocents. We have to remember that Viltrumites are genetically breed to be gods with the belief that they are the best race and they should be the only ones to rule over the others. So for him, the perfect race godly being that he is, feeling pity, guilty, weak, etc are beneath him. These beliefs are seared into every single Viltrumites's souls (if they have any). So when Nolan felt guilty, sad, and missing Mark, he cannot comprehend it. His mind basically went haywire - he choked Mark, but asks, "Why do I feel this way?!". A perfect edge lord/god felt feelings = brain fried. And the reason why he asks Mark for help is because he knows that the Viltrumites are now coming for him, and he can't fight them alone. The only way he knows how is to ask Mark for help and trained him and fight them together. Why Mark? Because his family is all he had left, and Mark has a great potential. Thanks if any of you read my longass ramblings. I guess I really like the show, and especially you guys' reactions watching the episodes. Cheers. Can't wait for the next episode.
