Quick Update

Apologies for the delay in getting the next chapter on the Balkan Wars out. It shouldn't be too much longer now, it is nearly 40 minutes which hopefully explains it!
As another question: My original aim with this project was to upload the completed series as one giant documentary. Unfortunately as I've gone on, it has gotten longer than even I imagined (and I imagined it to be very long indeed). So at this point I think it might be wise to consider uploading the documentary in three parts ( the first part going up to say the Naval Arms Race, the second part covering everything from then until 1914, and the third dealing with the July Crisis and conclusion). This would also allow me to upload something for my poor subscribers over on YouTube relatively soon, some of whom I think are getting a bit restless. You will of course continue to receive all new chapters here first. If you have any thoughts on this, they would be greatly appreciated!

2025-06-09 22:28:03 +0000 UTCHaha, thanks Joe I really appreciate it! Lord yes, I have a tentative script for the July Crisis but I am dreading it slightly. I obviously want to make it suspenseful, but am increasingly aware doing that well is probably a bit beyond my talents (just sticking a clock sound effect behind the whole thing would probably get tedious rather quickly). I think I'm going to have to edit the script a bit because at the minute it swings somewhat wildly between a 'big picture' view (like most of the series has been), to talking about what some random Austrian Foreign Office clerk is saying in the next breath. As to the channel, I really don't know. I'll discuss it with everyone here when we're getting close to the end and throw up a few polls. I'd like to go back to Austria at some point but that series almost feels like a different era at this point. If I did it I think I might just start from the Age of Metternich which could serve as a clear break for the series, though I'll discuss it here when the time comes. Thanks so much for your support, very sorry it took me a bit to get back to you, been trying to balance quite a bit this week 😂

It's been a wild ride with all of the parts so far and has given me a much greater understanding of the causes of WW1. Really look forward to the next part and will watch the first part on YouTube when it comes out. Hoping it's our soon 😊

With WW1 now nearly upon us (obvs still a way to go as I imagine the July crisis and whatnot will be a nightmare of an undertaking for you) where do you anticipate to go next with the channel? A return to your Austria series or elsewhere? Love your videos, they are by far the best on Youtube or elsewhere!!
