I’m proud to show you: July’s postcard of the month!!
This postcard design is a redraw of Georges Leonnec‘s 1924 cover for La Vie Parisienne, “The Ride” or “Centaur Kiss”. You may be more familiar with this version, which has floated around the internet for years much more visibly than the original — with some interesting edits, likely a result of analog editing in the 20th century when the illustration was reproduced as — drumroll — a postcard. :P
Continuing the tradition, this butch4butch sapphic riff on Leonnec’s illustration will be sent to all Crow Collectors and Raven Dandies next month! Jolly Jackdaws, you have until Thursday to up your tier if you’d like to receive one!
I really adored making this illustration, and felt like I was returning to my groove, but with renewed progress on some of my technical skills. Although this may be slightly more apparent in the black and white version (included here!), I studied Wylie Beckert even more intensely than usual while working on this image. Beckert is among my all time favorite contemporary illustrators, and their rendering style has inspired me for years. I learn more about how I want to approach my own works every time I look carefully at theirs.
As a last update, my envelopes arrived!! I’m in the process of packing them, and I expect June’s delivery to go out quite belatedly on Wednesday. Thank you all for your patience!
