I'm working on a follow-up map to the Western Surrach and the (as-yet unpublished) Eastern Surrach maps, that combines the two together and details the heraldry of its 74 'city-states' though can't decide on the Orientation.
The idea with the map is to detail the heraldry of each region and list its name, capital city and, if space, permits, the city's population and main resources/exports.
I've run into a problem with picking the best orientation - either portrait or landscape. I was hoping my paying patrons would be able to weigh in in the option you all prefer.
I've attached the two versions of the map so that you can see for yourselves. Each orientation has its pros and cons, which I'll go into below:
Portrait
This orientation has a bigger map, but a smaller area for detailing the individual regions. I also think its less symmetrical than the Landscape orientation. It also looks like a calendar, which might be a good or bad thing, not sure :)
Landscape
The orientation has a smaller map but the area dedicated to detailing the heraldry and regional details is bigger. Also, this version has more symmetry, which I feel looks better.
