Dothil, Surveyor of Impossibilities

Another of my (very) irregular heraldry biographies, this one about a mad cartographer (sounds familiar!)

His vice is one of my favourite regions of Elyden - the Prison Carceri - a region that I wish to explore in more detail,  but also want to keep as obscure and mythical as possible so that when I eventually get to it in fiction it hasn't been completely spoilt.

I do plan on making a cavern-map in the near future in the style of climate map from the Atlas elyden detailing the immense cavern-complex, though its eldritch architecture make this an exercise in futility, at best!

The Prison Carceri was inspired by Giovanni Battista Piranesi's  wonderful Carceri d'Invenzione, and also owes a lot to the Dungeons and Dragons Outer Plane of Pandemonium  (that name is particularly evocative to me and I pinched it from here and Milton's Paradise Lost  as the capital of Carceri).  It has a special place in the mythologies and folklore of the continent of Llachatul, though much of these tales and legends have been corrupted by time and oral retellings into childish fairy tales. Unless you live in Vârr, in which case you live on the doorstep of one of the larger mountains in Llachatul, which is entirely artifical, created by the waste rubble of the excavations of the Prison Carceri, where millions of the children of the Demiurge Vorropohaiah toiled for millennia. And that;s only a small fraction of Carceri. The place is shunned by most and is said to be cursed by locals.

One thing I'd also Love to write is a series of fairy tales and nursery rhymes from Elyden, which hint at some of the darker history of the world, not that anyone really knows it (much like the urban legend around the rhyme Ring a Ring o' Roses
