Slaven, the clone
Added 2015-10-04 07:09:19 +0000 UTCThe below short story is the first in many stories I've written (and am planning on continuing) featuring the clone Slaven. He is the closest thing I have to a main protagonist, and I hope to one day be able to share more of his adventures with you.
Without giving too much away, he is an alabaster-skinned adonis, a giant crafted by technarcanists to mirror what is considered the perfect human form by the men of the Korachani empire. They are vat-born marvels of the industrial age and would not be possible were it not for mankind's taming of the Atramental forces that ravage the world of Elyden and development of the technarcane sciences. They were created to be agents of war; tough, strong, unaffected by the wrath of the Atramenta, and loyal to the imperial cause. They were made in hubris and were a product of the excesses of an age when Korachani coffers were bottomless.
Then the world began to end. They were finally disbanded, their upkeep deemed untenable. Few outside the ministries of the empire know their fate though their numbers have lessened drastically over time and are rarely seen within the ranks of the empire's military. When they are seen they appear as solitary figures, living off the land, evading the imperial ministries, who hunt them down as heretics and dissidents, urged by church propaganda.
Slaven is such a character, wandering the hinterlands of the Twin empires, avoiding the dangers of the unravelling world. If i ever get enough money through this Patreon campaign, the first piece of artwork I would commission would be of Slaven, to be used as a cover for a novel and/or short story anthology.
Please let me know what you think about the below story with any constructive criticism you might have, thanks!
