Getting a Phone is Harder than I Thought!

I gave a small stretch as I rubbed my eyes and pushed the healing notification out of my view. Looking at the healing alert after noticing its effects feels way more satisfying than looking at it after basically nothing has actually changed. It was Sunday now, and I had the day off from anything crazy happening.

Today I should get a phone. I go to the kitchen and find no one but myself. Oh yeah, the weekends are really busy at the tea shop. Guess I can help Mom with that for a while before I go off on my own adventure. Throwing on the uniform I went out in the sideroom that she’d turned into her tea shop. The tea shop was small, no indoor seating, a single chalkboard detailing the deserts and teas we sold, some potted plants, and a nice sofa if you preferred to wait inside for your food. There was also a tiny box TV for people who were waiting, but we usually just had it play some music on the music channel.

It was called Two Flowers, Two Teas, and it was ours. I started to throw some of the homemade tea together as mom detailed the order. The order was two girls I had seen come by occasionally and they looked exhausted. As though they’d just finished running a marathon. Also the blue haired one looks vaguely familiar- Ah isn't that the shrine girl?

“Ah~ the cool air!” I silently turned up the little fan a bit to blast the blonde girl and I smiled at her all the while. Didn’t know this little group was into fitness.

“Welcome back Kaoruko-San, it’s been a while.” Truly it had been, I hadn’t helped Mom with the shop for about a month now and with the fate of the city suddenly on my plate moments like these would be few and far between for a while. So I had to squeeze them in while I could!

“It has been Inoue-san.” I handed her a lemon scone while the girl gave a tired reply. Cracking a smile I continued, the rest of her friends starting to bask in the mythical power of the fan.

“Didn’t know you three were training for something.” Haruka-San gives a light laugh and waves my question away with a casual answer. Haruka-san andthe blunette had anime hair colors so I was a bit wary of them, but the other two were always very nice and never caused problems so I’d warmed up to them after a while.

"I'd actually been training when we first met Ms. . . ?"

"Ah, I'm Sayo Minakami. It's a pleasure to meet you Inoue-san, right?" I give a nod and she continues after recognizing my question. “It’s a recent thing!” Sayo-san let out an exhausted smile but smiled nonetheless. There was a fire in her eyes, burning with determination! Maybe these three were Tres- Nah, that’s stupid. They are probably just some sports anime types. Sports in this world were insane by the way. 

First of all they were more female dominated, and second of all it was as though everyone basically had superpowers. I’d watched a football game (not american football) and for a moment I could have sworn the ball caught on fire from the massive kick slammed into it that won the game.

"You must have been the one the blueberry scones were for then?" While they hadn't brought their friend since starting to come here they always managed to get her something. They were good people. Sayo-san blushed lightly at the comment. I'm just going to assume she's been busy with shrine work so she hasn't been able to make it here. Perhaps this training set them free from her shackles!

“Well anyways, I’m happy you all stopped by, I’ve been busy with school as of late and haven’t been helping Okaa-san with the shop.” Haruka-san smiled brightly at my words.

“We’re happy to see you too!” She really gives me protagonist energy, the whole ‘I fight for my friends’ type of person. However I fight for the gentle darkness of this world and the stars that illuminate it!

“So how has the training been going? You seem to have woken up quite early for it.” Sayo-san gives a proud smile at my query, her blue hair bouncing slightly with the movement.

“It’s been going well! I can feel as though I’m on the cusp of something great!” I give a proud smile to the girl, this little group doesn’t come here too often except for special occasions so I trust that things are going ‘great’ as she put it.

“What are all of you training for anyways? Must be something quite special if all of you woke up so early for it.” An awkward chuckle passes through the group and makes me raise an eyebrow before Kauruko-san speaks up with her cool and collected tone.

“We’re practicing our martial arts, Sayo-chan wants to improve before her next meeting.” Sayo-san blushes before nodding along in agreement. However my eyes widened slightly. I didn’t know she was the type, is Sayo-chan a shounen protagonist perhaps? That would explain the hair.

I see the opportunity to become the mysterious master and I take it in an instant.

“I practice martial arts myself, I’d love to spar but you seem quite exhausted.” Presenting the offer like this isn’t too pushy, it's also rude to ask to spar with someone who just finished up.

“Y-you do? Well I actually practice kendo so I’m not sure-” 

“I’d love to try out using a sword with you.” Foolish! You truly believed that this dark master has only mastered his fists? In all honesty I don’t know how to use a sword, crowbars are more my speed. But some of the stuff should still carry over.

Especially since I just got a sword it would be good practice. I’ve mostly just been swinging it around like a crazy person. Kaouruko-san then speaks up with a smirk.

“Come on Sayo-chan~ A cute boy is asking for private lessons, it would be wrong to refuse!” Sayo blushes at the words and continues to speak.

“W-well my house is quite far and we’d need swords anyways.” I hold up a finger before running to my room and grabbing the training swords I had. I’m a chunni, of course I own swords! Who the hell do you think I am anyways!?

I appear next to them holding two wooden swords with a smile.

“My mother got them for me on my birthday a while ago, never was that great with them though.” That was half true. I’d realized I couldn’t carry a sword around with me in public pretty fast so I devoted myself to martial arts and random blunt instruments as my weapons of choice.

She looks on the fence, so I throw in the killing blow!

“I’ll give you a free blueberry scone-”

“Deal.” Sayo-san is stoneface serious at my words, I barely even get to finish my sentence before she’s reaching for the sword ready to cleave me in half and claim her prize. Wow, she must really like them.

“Take this outside, kids, and try not to break anything.” Mom reminds me that I am a force of mass destruction and that fighting inside is a bad idea, so I take a step out of the front door and Sayo-san looks like she’s about to unleash the hidden technique passed down in her family for generations.

She barely gives me any time to reach as her training sword flies towards my neck, but I can tell she is ready to stop the wooden weapon at a moment's notice. However to her surprise I bring up my blade in a defensive guard, parrying the strike away from me.

“Going right for the neck?” She blushes and holds up a hand with remorse.

“Sorry! I was going to stop it, I honestly didn’t expect you to be able to react to it . . . Ugh, really I am sorry. I just take swordsmanship very seriously!” Am I the arrogant young master who is daring to challenge the master swordsman in this case? Little does she know that I am actually the Dark Flame that cleanses Heavens!

I don’t Dash I just dash, but it's more than enough to appear in front of her in an instant. My blade flies towards hers ready to strike it from her grip but to my surprise she holds onto it. Fuck she really is from a sports anime! She repositions her grip back into two hands and brings her sword down towards my shoulder.

I weave out of the way and on instinct I nearly leg sweep her before stopping myself mid action. All my fighting techniques beat them up till they stop moving so this is a new experience for me. Instead of attempting to knock the girl unconscious I just lower my sword with a smile. 

I’m not going to risk hurting her by accident. She’s just a civilian after all.

“Wow Sayo-san, you’re amazing with that sword!” She blushes at my praise as thanks me as she hands the sword back. 

“You were really good as well! M-maybe we could do this again sometime . . .” Well I’m not opposed to the idea, but I’ve gotta get a phone sorted out so it’ll have to be later.

I hand her a scone much to her pleasure as she tears into the thing like a wild animal, Mom makes good scones. It’s a fact!

“Sure, I have something to take care of though so I’ll see you around!”

Minakami Sayo POV

We’d woken up bright and early for training. I’d always loved training, there was just something special about pushing your body to your limit and the good pain that came with growing stronger. Sure it burned, but at the same time it made me feel more relaxed than ever. We’d gone to Two Flowers, Two Teas today and Inoue-san was helping out his mother in the shop.

He was surprisingly good at sword fighting. His kendo could use some work but he had good instincts and strong legs. That sword swing where our blades clashed also sent a massive ring through my body from the recoil and it was so intense! 

Training with him is quite fun-

Suddenly Kauruko-chan put an arm around my shoulder as the boy ran off, my eyes following him as he went. 

“Does Sayo-chan have a crush? You love his cooking and when you finally meet him he starts training with you~ I think he might like you back!” I blushed in response, sure that intense attack made me feel warm on the inside but normally I don’t feel like this at all for Inoue-san! I just love training, is that really so wrong?

“He was just surprisingly strong, is all . . .” At the words a small sense of depression flows through the group. Talking about strength reminds us how much we’d need in order to face off against Enormeeta and more specifically Magia Baiser.

K-Kauruko got hurt. She got hurt really really badly and almost lost one of her legs. Vatz-san reminded us that this wasn’t a game and while we don’t know what made Magia Baiser like that we couldn’t lose, not against her.

Against Veil there was some leeway. Veil wasn’t a bad guy. He was just complicated. He’d been fighting for probably longer than we’d been alive against the many threats that have sought to destroy the world behind closed doors.

“Should we get back to training?” Haruku-san muttered with a determined look while locking eyes with me. I munched down the last bit of the amazing scone and gave a nod.

“We can’t waste Veil-san’s kindness.” Suddenly the nearby TV switched from the calming music to breaking news.

“This just in! A new villain has appeared demanding the mysterious hero Veil-san appear and face off against her or she’ll blow up the city! For those who missed the last broadcast, Veil-san is an ally of the Tres Magia and has been entrusted to protect our city while they are away on a secret mission! But while we can trust Tres Magia, can we trust this mysterious Veil-san to protect us?” Kaoruko is ready to bolt but Haruku stops her.

“Veil-san wouldn’t abandon the city, and we’re way too tired to fight this new villain anyways.” Kaoruko-san snorts.

“Like that’s ever stopped us before, but fine. Let’s see what the ‘mysterious Veil’ can do.”

Akihiko Inoue POV

Event: Attack of the Crazy Cat Lady

Defeat Leoparde

Do not exceed 100,000,000 Yen in property damage (about 700,000 USD)

This is bullshit! I was literally at the front of the line to get my phone and then some crazy girl in a lewd military uniform started blowing shit up! Don’t get me wrong, she’s hot as fuck, but I draw the line at blowing up random buildings! 

“As a love letter to my Magia Baiser, I need to bring you to Baiser-chan as a gift! So come on out Veil~ I, the great Leoparde will destroy you!” The girl blushes as she blows up an abandoned car. Utena, who is this! Did you seduce an evil magical girl in less than a day?

With a sigh I disappear into an alleyway with Stealth then I throw on my Faceless Mask. Collateral damage fighters are the worst. They break literally everything and cause so much damage the city is wrecked for weeks! So this explosive lady needs to be dealt with fast!

I Dash behind her while she floats in the air and her eyes widen for a moment as I bring my fist down on her head. However to my surprise she actually manages to move out of the way in time so my strike only lands on her shoulder and sends her rocketing the ground.

“Ha! You’re strong, but my love for Baiser-sama is stronger!” I stand there for a moment on the tiny shadow platforms beneath my feet manifested with Dash before I descend and land with a soft thump.

“I’m not wasting my time on this. Stop holding back or the next strike will take you down.” Her eyes widened before she smirked. Fuck, was she actually holding back? I was just trying to get her to back off while I got my phone!

“Fine then! I’ll show Baiser-sama how strong I am by defeating you!” I’m tempted to speed blitz her but it would be rude to just one shot her while she’s transforming. She reaches for her jacket and- wait why the fuck is she showing off her tits?

Upon her chest are three stars leaving me stunned for a moment as she takes off all of her clothes and morphs into some kind of smoke beast girl hybrid. Her body is coated in wisps of darkness and my fist clenches. Fuck, I actually sense danger- She practically teleports behind me and I instinctively Dash onto a nearby building as I avoid the explosion that impacted right where I stood before.

“Good. Even if unfair, I shall respond to your transformation with one of my own.” My demon eye lights up and the area on my mask glows brightly while leaving a trail of red energy with my movements. I feel my brain become more chunni as I rush towards her and punch her in the stomach causing her to cough blood and fly down the street as though she were a rocket.

From black portals large cannons break out, and she goes to fire them before coughing up blood again and heavily breathing while kneeling on the ground. Did I hit her too hard? If she’s Utena’s friend I don’t want to kill her by accident. The thoughts fade as quickly as they come, the chunni driving in full force as I grab her by the back of the head and launch her at least fifty feet into the sky.

I rocket after her with an instant Dash and then stare directly into her eyes as I gently hold her neck. She’s bleeding a lot, even in places I didn’t hit her. Sudden clarity comes back to me and I dispel my Demon Eye and look at her with new eyes. 

“You can’t handle your own power.” It was a statement of fact, and she looked at me with anger before smiling. Bombs manifested around us as I stood there motionless. She wasn’t actually going to blow herself up to take me down?

I let out a sigh of disappointment as I looked her over.

“This attempt of false bravado is the best you can muster? I’d expected more from a follower of the Demon Queen’s reincarnation. Master your transformation before you call upon me again.” Her eyes widen as I slowly bring us back down to the ground and set her there with gentle precision. Her expression contorts in confusion as she glares at me and ends her transformation in her cat form, returning to her soldier mode. Hopefully my words delay her next attack until later, can’t she at least wait a couple days!

“Are you letting me go- fight me you coward!” I shook my head solemnly.

“Something dark brews on the horizon . . . we’ll need all the magical girls we can get. Whether they walk in the dark or the light, the Black Sea will consume everything unless the chains of fate can be broken.” With that ominous and chunni as fuck monologue done I used Stealth and ran away! Please just give up so I don’t have to deal with this anymore!

Ms. Bomber over there just loves blowing up buildings. Staring at the rubble of the phone store I couldn’t help but let out a sigh. It’s like the moment I try to get a phone the entire universe says ‘You already said you didn’t want one dumbass, so now you can’t have one at all!’ 

Whatever. Hopefully some gambling can cheer me up.

My senses expand outward and my eyes widen. Wisdom is instinct!? That's pretty interesting. It's not exactly common sense, as common sense doesn't really mean anything. No, instead its more like a gut feeling. Interesting. I can also feel the strength and strategies start to burst through my mind. It's a shame I didn't get any dexterity though. While Intelligence is useful in a broader sense I'm not a wizard so I don't directly gain power from it. After a moment I decide to peek at my status to see the improvements.

Watching Kiwi-chan blow things up made me panic, and I was about to head over to get her to stop when Veil defeated her instantly. Now my reason for heading over was very different! I had to save her from the nefarious clutches of Veil! 

However he didn’t finish her off much to my relief, instead he started talking about the fact that even worse bad guys are going to show up than Enormeeta? Maybe I could use this . . . I pulled out my phone and waited for Inoue-san to send me Aki’s fresh phone number, but she instead told me the store got destroyed in the attack from the new villian.

“Utena-chan! Did you see my- what's with that look?” Kiwi-chan stepped through a portal and into my room alongside Venalita a cruel smile dawned upon my face as I stared at her. I’d have to punish her now, the only real tragedy here was that I couldn’t send the photos to my Aki!

??? POV

Veil-sama is Crimson Abyss-sama, the thought struck me like a dark thunderbolt. It only made sense as I glanced at what he had said over the TV. The way he carried himself, his abyssal colored hair, his power, and his knowledge of the Black Sea. It was the only plausible conclusion.

He said the world needed more magical girls in order to save it from the Black Sea, and I intended to become one. I had been offered power from Venalita-san a while ago after showing ‘promise’ with my Shadow Flame Artes. I’d join Enormeeta as a double agent. All for Crimson Abyss-Sama. It was finally time to show him what I was capable of, however first I had to defend his honor online from these fools who can not see the difference between the Abyss and the light consumed by it!

Posted on October 13th, 20XX: So how is everyone feeling about a new protector stepping up while Tres Magia is on leave? Personally I’m kind of scared . . . the Tres Magia hasn’t been doing the greatest recently with this new Villian on the loose so I understand them leaving for a while but we know basically nothing about ‘Veil’ and what kind of name even is that?

Honestly I'm just curious about this new guy as a concept. I've never seen a magical boy if this is one at all. Really makes you think about where magical girls even come from. They are all over Japan and there are even some overseas. As for how I'm feeling? Well honestly I'm just kind of interested to see if anything even happens. The new villian seemed to be mostly targeting Tres Magia so maybe she'll just sit tight for now? At least that's the hope

Don’t worry! Veil-san is quite the dashing hero! He’s just been really busy dealing with other stuff . . . but we can trust him. He’s even stronger than the Tres Magia, which is why we’ll be leaving the city to him for a while. Please don’t say mean things about Veil-san, he’s already had it rough having to protect the city from deeper threats alone.

Huh. So he’s legit then, and stronger than the Tres Magia. Good to know we have this mysterious guy watching our backs then. Also ‘deeper threats’ does not bode well. Maybe the Tres Magia really are on a training trip because they’ve learned of something real bad on the horizon.

Alright so it looks like Veil really is protecting the city! He showed up and crushed this new villian in an instant! He also started rambling about the Black Sea, but isn't that near Europe? Either way he's pretty strong . . . just wish he helped more with the clean up.

Looks like someone is a fan. It's a shame 'Veil-sama' (ugh I feel dirty just saying that) is far weaker than the Tres Magia, and he's going to get kicked to the curb once they come back stronger than ever!

They were fools. All of them. One day they would understand the greatness of Veil-Sama, perhaps someday soon . . . she’d need to consult the council of the manor for this one.

Perhaps a Tea Party was in order.

AN: Another chapter with a PHO interlude at the end. 11MagicalGirlLover15 is actually Uten-chan! November 15th (11/15) is Aki’s birthday so she plugged it into her username. She’s been crushing on him for a long time after all . . . Also our mysterious chunni protege has said some not very nice things about Veil-Sama’s haters! She’ll have to pay a visit and teach them a lesson!
