Excellent episode! Thank you. Another piece of tech that Star Trek pre-figured - the tablet. Although, arguably real tablets are better than PADDs because they only seem to hold one document at a time. Also, speaking of Axis of Awesome: https://youtu.be/RtmijUzgXpo?si=W1zdFIugM9QFnh2v And the four chords song (with Jordan pre-transition) https://youtu.be/dFpryVMgni0?si=pxq-WO4F1KdBK17c I'm just working my way through DS9 now for the first time - I really wasn't a Trek fan when I was younger, although I read all the James Blish Star Trek Log adaptations (same idea as the Doctor Who Target novelisations but as short stories rather than as books.)

I got myself the box set a couple of years ago to watch with mum. Imagine if they actually made an entire series like the ToS pilot and it's basically that 🤭 once it goes colour it's not as bad!

Alexandra thank you for this! I haven’t seen voyage to the bottom of the sea since I was a kid so I’ll definitely be rewatching it!

Not sure if it gives more context, but I watched a TV show that preceded it before I saw Star Trek ToS: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea If you've ever seen voyage to the bottom of the sea (1961 Film, TV Series 1964-68) - you may notice something striking, it has a very familiar theme tune, an almost identical premise, almost identical style, same mission (the submarine is a scientific vessel exploring the ocean), almost identical show structure, a similar cast to the point where the captain has the same hair colour, style, cut, and with even the swoop exactly the same, George Takei was in it, they're isolated by water instead of space, and unlike ToS - they made frequent use of their shuttle craft! https://youtu.be/qimqOFEHgTk (It hasn't aged as well as ToS though, as the writing is even more Of Its Time and wasn't trying to push any boundaries)
