What The Trans!?
What The Trans!?

Well ain't this a fuckin thing.

Hope this finds you in your various bunkers, keeping safe.

So, What The Trans is going to change slightly. Our pod is still going to report news, but as COVID-19 and the various ramifications of it are the biggest danger to trans people, we are incorporating ways to help trans folks get through this thing. Obviously there is only so much we can do, but here is our rough plan:

1. Rejigger the podcast format.

Much of the business of the UK parliament will be suspended. Trans equality is effectively on hold along with everything else. What isn't on hold is trans people's suffering. As such, we intend to pivot towards empowering and reassuring. Expect some very different episodes than the ones you have heard before (next one is due out the 27th, to give us time to prepare). We intend to keep putting out pods but the schedule may be a bit shaky. I have issues, Ash has issues, and everything is a bit much right now. But we will take care of ourselves and do what we can to put out a show every Friday.

2. We have a discord server

It was discussed here that maybe we should have a discord server for patrons. But considering just how fucked up things are going to get, we decided to make it available to everyone.  Come hang out, we got a little bit of everything and it is booming discord.gg/X2GJSak.

3, Using Patron money

So this is currently a non profit, expenses covering thing. And to an extent that will always be the same, however, we want to put the money into helping trans peoples crowdfunds, funding boredom busting things (Minecraft server? submit any ideas!) and other stuff. We intend to use all extra money after costs to put back into the trans community in some form, whether that be charity donations or making a space for Dyslexic folks who are having trouble following the discord (real issue reported to us, any Dyslexic folks got any ideas?).

4. We are going to try some stuff.

Expect to see us fling stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Attempts in twitch streaming, live broadcasts, and other things will be attempted, best place to keep track is through our twitter (twitter.com/whatthetrans) or our website (whatthetrans.com).

There are so many groups, organizations, and collectives who know so much about how to help trans people. We can't provide healthcare, legal advice, or anything like that. But we can provide a distraction, information and swear words. Our goal is to keep the trans, non-binary, intersex, gender variant and gender question community entertained, informed and kind of, hugged if that makes sense?

If you have any ideas, please get in touch directly with us (contact@whatthetrans.com) and if you have skills you think would help, let me know.

I want to thank you for your cash, support, and awesomeness. Stay safe, stay indoors, wash those mitts and let's do some cool shit.

Thanks,

Michelle. x
