EARLY ACCESS: WHAT'S IT LIKE LIVING NEXT TO A NUCLEAR BOMB FACTORY?

For logistical reasons (no really) this wasn't quite the lightweight topic we'd intended after our previous vid, but... it does have Monty's Mum, Leaf, and a shitting cow in it.

Enjoy!

Pure joy there, good to see Leaf and dear Monty, back causing a bit of Tom-foolery. Did you feel a bit camera shy, with all them people, cause it was hillarious! 🤣

Katie Rootham

Oooh, interesting. Let me know when it's written, James. Totally one of my main areas of interest too.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

Okay, I have yet to watch this but this video is ground zero of my wheel house. Essentially one of my main interests are nuclear issue's/weapons/Civil Defence/Cold War. I am currently writing a book on the subject. A collection of short stories on the matter. Thank you for this.

We were mainly focused on Aldermaston’s safety record, so I’m sure we’ll get around to other accidents! There was a bad one at Lakenheath too. Didn’t know the silos will be in Andor!

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

Weird to see you and Leaf here. I work up at Greenham and there's some interesting remnants still about. Surprised the 1958 accident (supposedly involving a nuclear bomb) never got a mention. The silos will be making another star wars appearance soon, as they were up there filming for Andor last year

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

That's what they all say.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

All the people turned up as soon as Leaf appeared. The crowds love Leaf!

Michael Patterson

More crotch than I was expecting but not completely surprised 🤣

David T

Should've got a cow to crap on camera in that one.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

I know it feels like years, but Monty's mum was in our Christmas ep...

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

Sorry! The one we had planned had to be moved, and this was more or less on our doorstep...

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

I thank you.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

Funnily enough, my sister's first husband was stationed at Lakenheath. First place I ever ate pizza! I remember when he left he got debriefed that "there were no ever nukes there". Glad you enjoyed the vid, Marc.

Paul Rose (Mr Biffo)

An excellent video, and despite the subject matter, still a damn sight more cheery than the last.

Seeing Monty after all these years is far more impactful than that bit where Dark Vader tells the whiny guy that he's his son in that film

Something to watch with me tea

Another fantastic video!! Interesting fact, the nuclear warheads we produce have a delivery system that we lease from the Americans! That's right, we don't own the missiles we fire from the submarines.... I haven't been to Greenham Common for a long time, it's certainly more grown over than when I last visited. Did you manage to find the piece of runway that is smack bang in the middle of where it used to run? The GLCM bunkers are pretty impressive, Greenham Common wasn't the only one in the country, RAF Molesworth near Huntingdon has a set of GLCM bunkers there and that base is still active and run by the USAF. On the topic of nukes being stored in the UK, RAF Lakenheath was storing them way after the announcement of them being sent back to the states. How do I know? My cousin, who was a SP in the USAF used to have to guard them when they came over on C-5 Galaxies, I can pinpoint the ramp they used and have seen them unloading them. The security presence used to go through the roof and the armed SP's would encircle the aircraft. Not very subtle. Thanks again for all you do, I love these videos and you two do such a great job. Keep up the great work!

Me: "Great, a new Digitiser video! This must be that fun, light-hearted one Biffo promised us!" Paul: "We're all going to die in a nuclear holocaust." Me: "...well, shit."

Richard Lyth

The "old knocker" joke made me laugh. Well played Sir, well played.
