To be an angsty teen and hear these edgy sad lyrics over those thumping beats... truly a formative experience tbh. Don't know if you'd ever cover another album by Marina on the channel, but I think I'd actaully recommend her debut The Family Jewels over FROOT. While FROOT is considered great because it was a departute from the EDM sound and she wrote and produced it all with just one collaborator, I feel like her debut is more 'her'. It's so indie quirky, especially in the melodies and the way she uses her voice. And it's crazy cause there's not one song on it that's about 'standard' love / relationships. Really stood the test of time imo while also being really unique.

Speaking of hearing it acoustic, something happened to her sound system right before she sang teen idle so she sat down and played it on the piano. Just the piano and her voice. I can’t hear this song any other way now it feels weird. So powerful.

(I personally love both tho.)

The Family Jewels, FROOT, and Love + Fear are all outstanding!
