Benson first EP and early music is way different, and in my opinion BETTER. I still love his stuff, but his earlier music was my favorite. “Nights Like These” and “Better Alone” are great. “Little Runaway” is a personal favorite of mine. This Pretty Slowly song does land emotional for me, though. Having gone through a divorce from someone who an addict, and then having him recover and become my best friend long after our marriage was over… the complexity of those emotions are not something often talked about, nor sang about, it’s either I Love You or I Hate You… not a lot of folks singing “Hey, sorry I put you through hell, but now what we’re friendly and healed more, what the hell are we now?”

Won’t all be his thing, obviously, but his solo songs, and some of the collabs that are not singles (yet) are much more interesting than the singles. And the singles do vibe more in context (although I do think so Had Some Help freaking slaps regardless, even if it is very radio friendly). Just would hate to see assumptions about the whole country era based on the singles.

I hadn’t heard this song yet so when that part played I was like “whooooa Beatles vibes” and kinda left it there then you wondered aloud if it was an interpolation so I was like.. you know what, I wonder??? So I took a second and shockingly picked the right song on the first try (I am not a musician so I’m very proud of this lololol). I don’t see a credit on Post’s song so it doesn’t seem to be interpolated and for all I know the boys lifted it from somewhere first lol

I also really hope you react to more Gaga on your channel. Would love for you to start a deep dive as she’s getting ready to release her 7th album either late this year or next year. I’d love to see you go on that journey starting with The Fame (definitely watching the music videos too), like you’ve done with Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. Gaga deserves a deep dive (that’s sounds…off but you know what I mean). ❤️❤️❤️
