She was “making her own name” and didn’t stay with Taylor Lautner and become the next Taylor Lautner. Mean is not about John or Kanye! It’s about music critic Bob Lefsetz who was extremely critical of her after her fearless album and inspired the whole idea of a completely self written album. Long Live is a tribute to her fans.

The funny thing about the artist comparisons/influences you mentioned for me is that I was a Paramore fan for a few years before I really became a Taylor Swift fan, and this was the album that finally got me. Haunted specifically (because of how it reminded me of Evanescence - which some other people mentioned in the chat!) drew me in and made me more curious about the album.
