Story update and AI Art Cover Contenders

(This post is available publicly so minor spoiler warning) I had originally planned a conversation between Hogg, Elmon, Tawna and Brin to start off Book 2, but I realized it made more sense to have it in the resolution of book one. You can find it in the Part 3 - Chapter 20, right after they leave the temple.
As for the art, when I was getting started I generated a bunch of images to get a cover for RoyalRoad and chose the one that I thought worked best to convey the style and tone of the story. These are the runner-ups. Some of them I like more that what I used for the cover, but didn't convey the tone I would've liked. I would've fixed hands/smaller details if I'd decided to use them, but I still think they look nice.
The action pose one I was very proud of, considering the amount of photoshop I put into it, but I don't know if it works as a cover.

The MC was malnourished at the start of the story perhaps but after a while in his new bog he got his dietary needs more than met and should have some muscley bulk to him

When he was strength training he was using the gold he had to prepare xtra food as he knew he needed the add’l calories and protein to help add muscle. I would say he was probably more a lean kid with wiry muscles. Not that all these photos show that necessarily.

2023-08-25 20:54:58 +0000 UTCI have to say, using AI generated art on a cover you would normally pay someone to produce strikes me as problematic. Especially since it seems like the next office to publish this on Amazon. AI art uses the work of thousands and thousands and thousands of artists as a reference, without their permission or giving them credit. And deprives those same people of revenue I think of the best thing to do would be to use whichever one you like best as a reference and then hire an artist to make you a cover.
