Mythical Monsters: Lamassu (full set)

We posted the support-free version as Monday’s model, but now the full set is available for the $5+ tiers. This includes the original version, plus a version in a more dynamic pose, and a version in human form (best in resin, supports required for these two), along with some separate stonework bases to go along with each of you like.

The set is available in the August 2021 rewards folder (found under Miniatures and Terrain for legacy tiers). If you signed up last month, that’ll become available as soon as funds are cleared through Patreon (should just be a few days now) and, for those who signed on this month, it’ll be in the same folder when we send rewards next time (about a week into September).

Also, this sort of marks the start of another range: Mythical Monsters. I have a working list of some of my favorites that I want to make, but are there any creatures from mythology/folklore that you want to see get a sculpt? I’m particularly interested in creatures that don’t get a ton of representation. Let me hear about your favorites below!

My wife is Latvian and her grandmother always had weird, fun folktales to tell. A water spirit that snatches misbehaving children through their toilets, a boogyman sort of monster that lives in dirty spots on rugs, buxom forest nymphs that turn into wolves and steal children. All sorts of fun!

Ooh, good call!

Great idea for a theme! Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have some pretty interesting creatures and gods that might be cool to take an artistic angle to.

All great suggestions! Thanks. PhilIppine myths are a blind spot for me (aside from the Tikbalang) and something I need to research. I definitely want to dig into the Mabinogion, though the coolest “creatures” that translate best to miniatures tend to come more from Welsh folklore, I think. Although, I believe the Mabinogion does give us walking trees and flower maidens, which is pretty awesome.

Awesome! As to mythological creatures, there are quite a few hybrids in Sumerian mythology that are virtually untouched. Also, the Philippines has some very interesting mythological creatures that haven't gotten much love from artists, as they're pretty much unknown outside the Philippines. Also Welsh entities, and entities that may go back a lot further in Europe, like Elen Of The Ways.
