What's next to come and a discussion about black

Hi! Let's take a look at what it's next to come, first of all on Saturday a video on basing using painted sand and rocks is dropping, the video its already finished I just need time to upload it and do the final touches.

Around October the 10th the Salamanders video will be released, already started recording it, you can see the recipe tested on what later became the Blood Angel Intercessor.

The recipe is:
- Basecoat of Corax White
- Apply Iyanden Yellow very thin, don't let it pool you just want a very thin layer of yellow - Apply Warp Lightning a normal coat, but try to be uniform with it
- Apply a Glaze of Warp Lightning to intensify the green tone, you can apply a second coat of this towards the lower parts of the panels to add panel modulation
- Shade the recesses with Dark Angels Green
- Edge highlight with Moot Green
- Smaller Edge Highlight with Flash Gitz Yellow
- Dot Highlight with Dorn Yellow
Moving on the Space Wolves recipe required a ridiculous amount of testing, the initial recipe required 4 parts pf white, 4 parts of Space wolves and 1 of Talassar, you can see it here:

That was ridiculous and a bit too bright, so I changed it a bit (less than you would tell) and started from Greyseer instead, final recipe for the base colour is:
- 1 Part Apothecary White
- 1 Part Space Wolves Grey
- 1 Part Gryph-charger Grey
This ends up with a super nice baby blue color, that is not too bright not too dark (like the Space Wolves contrast)
And we get to the mess that is black armour using contrast paints. I have to tackle Raven Guard, their armour is BLACK, not just black, its SUPER BLACK. I could easily start from Mechanicus Standard Grey and do two coats of Black Templar, but Why? I would then have to Edge Highlight everything, so why not start from a black spray and just edge highlight everything? that's two steps less and a better result. I don't want to do contrast when it's not useful or necessary, so I won't.
There is Black in the Salamander Backpack, that wil be done with contrast as it is a faded black and also in the Iron Hands armour, that I will do in a metallic black. So there are two methods of using contrast to do black armour and that is more than enough I think.
Un Saludo,
Juan
