These pictures are the original development kits unit used by the company who were making PlayStation games after 1994.. Actually the console with the PCB showing from the side may not be usual , but the one that look like PC is a good example.
One reason why the PlayStation was so successful was because the development kit was just two PC Cards that had the full PlayStation chip set inside.. Instead of building special development machine Sony would just send cards that could go inside the company’s own PC. This let the developer use their own PC almost like normal but we PlayStation development power and tools .. this make developer life so much easier!! And that is why development was faster and more comfortable and more games were made for PS1 than Saturn or other console. Of course this made PlayStation very big success!! 😄
The 2 PC Cards with the PS1 chip set was still expensive for the company to buy and Sony would sell them about $15000 in 1994! 😮

PS1 was my first console that wasn’t a hand-me-down. I saw all the cool fake for it. It’s just really fun to see the inside of all of this. I think I’ll be sticking around for a while with all this cool information being dropped most days. 💜
