MONTHLY Q&A - October 2025

The start of the month means that it's time for another Monthly Q&A!

As usual, if you have any questions for me then please comment them below this post and I'll be sure to answer them over the coming days!

(Just a reminder that this is limited to one question per person per month. If you comment with multiple unrelated questions, then I will only answer your first question.)

I am aware of Assetto Corsa Evoluzione, but I haven't been following it too closely. To be honest, for me it kinda falls into the same category as the most notable GT mods - like GT2 A-Spec and GT4 Spec II. I think it's awesome that so many people are able to enjoy them - and the classic GT experience - in a fresh way, but right now I'm still focussed on playing the classic GT games as they are. One upside of GT7 being a such a massive let down (from a single-player perspective, at least) is that it really re-invigorated my love for those older games. For a while, even though I rated them very highly, I didn't actually play them and was mostly just relying on memories from back in the day. It wasn't until I started making videos that I decided it would be a good idea to revisit them, and I haven't really stopped playing them since. A lot of the videos I make are retrospectives and deep dives on certain topics throughout the history of Gran Turismo, because that's what I'm most interested in right now. Playing the games again after so long made me realise just how deep they are, and how much untapped potential there still is for videos about them. So yeah, in short, I don't have a huge desire to play mods like AC Evoluzione right now just because I'm still so invested in enjoying and analysing the older GT games. For me, they still scratch that itch. However, I can't say that'll always be the case, so I'm sure I'll get around to checking it out some day.

Have you checked out the Assetto Corsa Evoluzione mod? I'm not associated with it but I love it so much. It is a mod that essentially transform Assetto Corsa into a Gran Turismo game, bringing the content and features over. It feels like perfect mix of the old PS2 era GT games with the presentation of the newer games. It fits almost exactly like what you wish your dream GT would be, from the car lists to features to events. It even has an Arcade mode, separate from the main game like the old GT one has. I reckon you should check it out at the very least as it seems right up your alley.

When it comes to the best non-Japanese car, I think there can only be one correct answer - the McLaren F1 GTR. After all, it is (and probably will always be) the only non-Japanese car to ever win the GT500 title, when Team Goh won 4 out of 6 races in 1996. A lesser known fact is that Team Goh was supported by McLaren itself, making them a semi-works team. Unfortunately, they left the series at the end of the year after a dispute regarding the car being handicapped further for 1997. It really makes you wonder how different things could've ended up had they stayed... That said, the long-tail F1 GTR did also compete with privateer entries from 1999 through to 2005, achieving decent results against the factory teams - including a surprise win at Mine in 2001! As for the best non-Japanese driver, once again there is a very obvious candidate - Ronnie Quintarelli. The Italian first debuted in the series driving the Denso SARD Supra in 2005 (and actually won the standalone Suzuka 1000km event at his first attempt), but it was with Nissan that he really made his mark. From 2011 to 2015 he won the GT500 title 4 times - still the most of any driver in series history. At the point he retired at the end of last year he had 18 race wins - the most of any foreign driver and 3rd on the all-time list. By the way, 1st on that list is Tsugio Matsuda - his long-time teammate with whom he won 12 of those races with (and who, coincidentally, made his JGTC debut driving an F1 GTR in 2000 lol)

My question for this month is about JGTC aka Super GT: in your opinion, what are the best non-japanese cars and non-japanese drivers in the history of the championship? For your answer, you can choose any time period you like and choose along multiple categories (GT500, GT300...)
