Hey, welcome! 'Duplicate' cars are a pretty common thing in GT, with the PS3 games being the worst offenders. TBH, I've never really about what I consider to be the most pointless - mainly because I view them to all be equally as pointless. However, if we're talking about sheer numbers, then the Mazda Roadster / MX-5 / Miata easily takes the cake. In GT5 and GT6, there are 30+ variants of the car that represent just two distinct models - the 1st generation, and the 2nd generation. These are made up of minor trim level and regional variants that are all fundamentally the same car. GT6 did at least add unique stripe decals to some when you repaint them though, which was a nice touch. But if you'd allow me to take the idea of 'the most pointless car' in a slightly different direction, I do have a more concrete answer. GT3 is a game that I've always praised for making full use of its content, but there is one car that gets strangely left out - the Acura CL. This car isn't given out as a prize (and its cost means that you would have very little reason to buy it over faster and cheaper alternatives), you don't have to drive it for a licence test or time trial, and - as far as I know - it never even appears as an AI opponent in any career mode event. Most people can fully play through GT3 without ever seeing the CL on track even once. Now for other GT games with considerably more content, this isn't that unusual, but it makes the CL a total outlier in GT3. Seriously, I don't believe there's a single other car in the game that gets as underutilised as this one (aside from ones that were cut of course), but unless someone points it out, you'd probably never even notice...

I recently subscribe and I have various questions to ask, but as I can only ask for one, for this month my question is: in Gran Turismo, what are in your opinion the most pointless cars ever? I call a "pointless car" a car that should not belong in the game because it exist as a nearly identical form already. Two examples would be: the Daihatsu Cuore TR-XX Avanzato (J) - why do we need it when we have the Mira TR-XX being sold in Japan already?? and a worse case: the '13 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 from GT6 and GT7 - it's a facelift model that presumably DOESN'T exist irl as this specific model of Veyron have ended production on 2011. Why did they removed the accurate and existing '09 model in favor of a presumably non-existing car? They removed the '09 model in favor of the "fake" in GT7, it doesn't feel right...
