MONTHLY Q&A - AUGUST 2025

The start of the month means that it's time for another Monthly Q&A!

As usual, if you have any questions for me then please comment them below this post and I'll be sure to answer them over the coming days!

(Just a reminder that this is limited to one question per person per month. If you comment with multiple unrelated questions, then I will only answer your first question.)

Aside from it being a test bed for some quite unusual cars - most famously from Chaparral - I don't have many thoughts to be honest. It's definitely a slice of motorsport history that I should look deeper into at some point because I'm sure there are plenty of interesting stories to tell. The combination of big international names and cars pushing well over 1000 horsepower is undoubtedly pretty cool. From previous research on the Toyota 7, I'm aware that they held a few exhibition races in Japan alongside their domestic Group 7 cars - including at the original Fuji Speedway but run in the opposite direction. Then there was the domination of McLaren for several years, before the rise of the Penske Porsches - but that's really as far as my Can-Am knowledge goes.

What are your thoughts on the Can-Am series from the 60s and early 70s?

I love researching obscure motorsport stuff, so that GT1 video was a fun one to make, I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for if I'm going to make more like it - yes, absolutely. Right now I have plans for two videos along similar lines. The first - which I plan to make not too long from now - would be about the racing exploits of manufacturers who don't have much of a legacy in motorsport. Whilst some brands build their whole image around performance and racing, there are plenty of others who don't - and yet, some of them have still dabbled in it. The plan is to cover these examples and the interesting cars and stories that spawned from them. My second video idea, which I'm planning in the medium-term, revolves around a series that I've covered quite a lot on the channel - Super GT. Basically, I want to make a video covering every single weird, obscure, and forgotten car to have raced in the series during its more than 3 decade long history. There are so many examples of cars like these that people either don't know about, or if they do, have very little background knowledge of. What I want to do is provide more context to each of these cars and the teams that ran them - such as where they came from, what they achieved, and what happened next. Of course for some of the cars this will be quite a challenge given that there's very little information about them on the internet, and most of that is hard to find as it's in Japanese. However, I do have a plan to help with this, so I'm optimistic. This project will be quite a big undertaking and I estimate the final video will be well over an hour long, but I think it'll be worth the effort. Beyond this, I'm always open to ideas, so I'm sure there will be more videos in a similar vein

Do you plan doing more videos where you cover a handful of obscure race cars? One of my favorite videos from your channel is the one where you covered a random lot of obscure GT1 cars that couldnt warrant their own videos and i'd really like to see another video where you cover notable cars in other classes, particularly in the older GT2, Current GT3 and GT300.
