MONTHLY Q&A - JULY 2025

The start of the month means that it's time for another Monthly Q&A!

As usual, if you have any questions for me then please comment them below this post and I'll be sure to answer them over the coming days!

(Just a reminder that this is limited to one question per person per month. If you comment with multiple unrelated questions, then I will only answer your first question.)

My personal top 3 is GT3 in 1st, GT4 2nd, and GT2 3rd. I think if you watch enough of my videos you can probably work that out, but after that it's not so simple. The thing about creating a hierarchy of these games is that for me there's two ways to look at it. You could rank them based on how much you enjoyed playing them for the first time, or you could rank them based on how much you enjoy revisiting them in current day. From both perspectives my top 3 would be the same, hence why I can say that for certain, but the other games can vary massively. I feel like this conundrum is only added to by the more recent live-service games, like GT Sport and GT7. GT Sport in particular is a game that I really have no idea where I'd rank. Whilst it was such a departure from the classic GT formula I still have lots of good memories from playing it back then - y'know, back when the updates were actually good. But at the same time, the fact that it's now completely offline makes it feel kinda pointless, considering that online racing was the whole reason why it existed in the first place. As such, I basically don't revisit it except to record footage, and I don't think that's likely to change in the future. Then there's the GT5 vs GT6 example. Even after creating my GT Origins retrospectives on them, I still have no idea which game I actually think is better. For me, GT5 has undoubtedly the more engaging single-player career, and given that's the main reason why GT3 is my No.1, you might expect that to be the clear winner. But in spite of that, I pretty much never feel the urge to start a new playthrough of GT5 from scratch - I almost always pick GT3 or GT4 when I'm in that mood. Whereas with GT6, although I think it's a fundamentally less interesting game with worse design, I do sometimes find myself booting it up just to enjoy the post-game sandbox experience. In that sense, it's able to fill that specific niche better than any other GT game in my opinion. What I can tell you for certain is that I'd put GT1 in last - yes, even below GT7. Whilst there's no denying it's huge impact on the racing game genre, the fact that it's been so thoroughly outclassed in almost every way by the games after it, means that it's kind of a relic - even if you can still have fun playing it today. Given that I never played it until many years later when I was already a big fan of the franchise, I don't have that much attachment to it, which I'm sure has influenced my opinion. That said, I feel like a game such as GT7 still gives people more reason to play it and more value from the experience in current day - even if, beyond the surface, it's gameplay is much more shallow...

I’m wrapping up my latest GT4 playthrough. It makes me wonder though. How much do you agree with my main GT rankings? 1. GT3 2. Sport 3. GT4 4. GT2 5. GT5 6. GT1 7. GT6 8. GT7
