MONTHLY Q&A - MAY 2025
Added 2025-05-09 09:17:36 +0000 UTCSorry I'm a bit late this month, guys, but it just slipped my mind.
As usual, if you have any questions for me then please comment them below this post and I'll be sure to answer them over the coming days!
(Just a reminder that this is limited to one question per person per month. If you comment with multiple unrelated questions, then I will only answer your first question.)

No matter how you look at them, the Moon Missions are really out there - definitely one of the most experimental ideas this series has ever had. However, experimental doesn't necessarily mean good or enjoyable. Whilst I really appreciate PD's audacity with them, I do find playing them kind of tedious. Of course that's not an issue on PD's behalf - I don't think there's a way they could've included them without them being somewhat dry and monotonous. But even still, I think we should be grateful that they even attempted something like it in the first place. I mean, can you imagine any other major AAA racing game franchise trying the same thing? No way. You could say that trying radical things like this is part of what made the PS3 era of Gran Turismo so unique - and what we're missing in current day. In years to come, I guarantee there will be people saying "hey, remember that racing game where you could drive on the Moon?" If stuff like that keeps these games relevant in the future, then I can only see it as a positive.

2025-05-16 01:00:20 +0000 UTCThis is actually pretty good timing because in the video I have coming out on Tuesday (my GT5 retrospective) I do briefly talk about the engine sounds in the game. It's no secret that the engine sounds in Gran Turismo have never been particularly impressive - in fact, in the PS3 games especially, I'd say that they're pretty awful. However, I've never really been one of those people to get too hung up on the way the cars sound. To be honest, I only really notice if I make a conscious effort to listen - most of the time I can just tune out the sounds I don't like. I realise that probably seems quite strange to some people, but it's the truth. As for if I'd ever make a video on them, I wouldn't rule it out entirely but it's not something I'm really planning to do - but I do appreciate your offer regardless. Whenever I come up with a video idea my biggest priority is whether the subject will actually result in interesting content. When it comes to engine sounds in Gran Turismo I can't guarantee that it will - in part down to my own relative lack of interest in the topic - and the fact that I just don't think there's a huge amount of material to work with. But if you want my own brief summary, it would go something like this: PS1 games - Passable. PS2 games - Still Passable. PS3 games - Very Underwhelming. PS4 & PS5 games - More Accurate but Still Underwhelming.

2025-05-11 13:32:08 +0000 UTCWould you consider doing a video about how vehicle sound has transformed in Gran Turismo? I do foley recordings of cars in my spare time and for work if you need some assistance.
