MONTHLY Q&A - MARCH 2025

Hey, guys!

The start of the month means that it's time for another Monthly Q&A!

As usual, if you have any questions for me then please comment them below this post and I'll be sure to answer them over the coming days!

(Just a reminder that this is limited to one question per person per month. If you comment with multiple unrelated questions, then I will only answer your first question.)

Short answer - no. Long answer - nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Nah but for real, now being 3 years into the game's life I really don't see it changing in any meaningful way. To be honest, even back when I was making my GT Critique videos I didn't anticipate it improving all that much. What we have to remember is that the majority of the game's most glaring issues from our perspective - like the drawn out single-player races where the AI drive far slower than what they're actually capable of, or the completely messed up economy that no amount of circuit experiences, online time trials, or special events can ever fix - didn't happen by accident. They were all conscious decisions made by people who clearly no longer value what made the older games enjoyable in the first place. And given that in spite of these issues - and the massive backlash it received post-launch - GT7 has still sold really well, they frankly have no reason to change their approach. I mean, we can always say 'hopefully GT8 will be different', but I just see no reason why it would be. As I've mentioned before, GT7 is a decent sandbox, which is why I still boot it up from time to time, and I imagine that's what's drawn you back as well. But when it comes to a mainstream perspective, people just don't seem to value racing games as structured single-player experiences like they do with most other genres. At this point, a 'decent sandbox' is pretty much the best we can hope for from this series...

I recently got back into GT7 somehow. Same as always with its various flaws and features that make no sense. My question is that do you think any changes made for the better will be implemented in the future? IMO, the first step is to add a qualifying feature.

Working with Matt was definitely something on my bucket list! I've been watching his videos for almost as long as I can even remember - he's one of the true pioneers when it comes to covering GT on YouTube. Anyway, my collaboration with him stems from a video I made about meme cars in Gran Turismo back in June 2023 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPV8NIN_0No) In the 'Black Impreza' section, I mentioned his GT Iceberg video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDdaDbNz-bs) as the main reason for why this meme started to gain traction. But my association with that video goes a lot deeper than just that one meme. You see, even though I had watched Matt's videos for a long time, that one from April 2022 was really special to me. The way he used his massive knowledge of the series to make such an interesting and informative video really lit a spark inside me. It made me think "hey, maybe I can do something similar!" Fast forward just over a year and I was now doing YouTube full-time, making videos that took direct inspiration from Matt's. As it turned out, he would watch my meme cars video and leave a nice a comment. After that I reached out to him by email explaining how I had been watching his videos for well over a decade at that point and that he was my biggest inspiration, as well as offering to lend my voice to any GT-related project he might be working on. Thankfully he was receptive to that idea and brought me on to do some of the voice-over for his 50 facts about GT1 video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-vr_9L3j8I), and that was that. I have to say that I do feel kind of bad for not inviting him to do the same on one of my videos, but I've just never had a great idea for a collab. That said, there is one video idea I have that I think would be pretty fitting to have him feature in, so maybe I will be able to repay the favour one day...

Regarding the video collaboration with MattJ155, what was it like? Who approached who first, and what was the experience like working alongside another respected GT Youtuber?
