According to a video I saw on YouTube, Sonny Black got wacked, but Lefty went to prison, after refusing witness protection and refusing to testify against the family. While in prison, he never ratted out his family and the contact that had been placed on him was canceled. He got out in 1992 and passed away in 1994 from lung and testicular cancer.

I agree with Marion. Much better film than The Departed. Very gritty and sad, scummy lives for these people.

Thank you guys. This was a great one. I forgot how fantastic Al Pacino was in this. I think it make sense that when he was young he played Michael the commanding general, and when he's older he plays Lefty the loser. Your mob reactions are amazing. Hope you do more. This is one of my fav mob films. Johnny Depp was very good playing an Italian-American tough guy from NYC. Al Pacino was great as usual. The real agent Donnie Pistone was co-writer of the film so most of it was true...except the ending. In real life they did not kill Lefty....It was Sonny Black that was murdered because he was the one who was representing Donnie towards the end. So Lefty was lucky that Sonny took Donnie away from him lol For future mob reactions.. "Carlito's Way" (1993) Al Pacino and "A Bronx Tale" (1993) Robert De Niro
