Reacting to The Remixes (Disc 1) by Mariah Carey!

Comments

"If You Should Ever Be Lonely" is a cover. She mashed them up.

Adam Kuhl

Love you Jacob, you’re so much fun to watch

Adrian

Nooo Jacob! Lol! I can't belive you didn't care for AYNAF c+c club mix. Lol. No, that's not a 2025 club banger but it's top 3 on disc 1 along with My All & Fantasy!! Although, I appreciated you loving and hearing the vocals she was giving!! ITS SOME OF HER BEST, SHE'S SHOWING OFF!!!!!

RobynRobyn03

Omg can we get a few live performances from caution lol at least one

Michael Freeman

The Disc 2 is the Rnb/House Remixes while Disc 1 is club remixes

Sean James Borja

for Part Two, just to save you time, you can skip Breakdown, Heartbreaker Remix, Sweetheart, and Crybaby. they were all on studio albums or her #1s album all of which you have reacted to

Trey

Whenever the club mix of Emotions comes on, my friends say "oh is this the Devil Wears Prada mix?" or "is this the Miranda Priestly edit?" lol i mean it does give fashion walkway vibes!

Trey

ur a hero for sitting through disc 1 😂 disc 2 is a bit better

Rodrigo Garcia

all of these were recorded during the time she recorded the albums they belong to but yes they are mostly different vocals from the released singles

Trey

Definitely hope u get to thru the rain remix I love it too

Sean

I love ALL of those remixes. It was such a joy to go buy the cd singles back then and discover all the resung remixes <3 Ahhhhh <3

Simon Noel

And on disc 2 you’ve reacted to breakdown, loverboy remix, heartbreaker remix, sweetheart and crybaby. Also I’m so excited for you to hear “I know what you want” that was #3 on the billboard charts in 2003

Stella

If you should ever be lonely, was an 80s song by an artist named Val Young, then it was covered by the real McCoy in the 90s on their album “ another night”.

Heather

I’m so exciteddd for disc 2 that’s more my vibe

Stella

lol this was fly music in the 90’s. 60’s music in a 90’s club don’t sound right either. Fantasy is such stand out.

Daniel Carey

So rude. We’re meant to be a community over here, how is he meant to react without speaking and making expressions?

Stella

Ok you literally talked over 50 percent of some AYNAF remix which is some of the best vocals she’s ever done. Glad i’m not wasting my money here anymore. People are paying for you to REACT to their favorite songs not talk and make weird faces nonstop during the actual singing. 🙄

Justin

Heartbreaker wasn’t a mashup of two different songs she added all new vocals and lyrics……

Justin

This was beautiful to read.

Daniel Carey

If you should ever be lonely is a new song she has for the specific remix of the heartbreaker and man it just fits perfectly thematically

Sean James Borja

When Mariah remixes a song, she makes sure it has new vocals

The remixes were made in different years in different musical landscapes. They're made for different types of clubs. The early 90s remixes were much more house and gospel influenced. There was a market in some spaces for them, even though we couldn't imagine them in a generic club nowadays. For context from someone who was around before smart phones. Musicians often indulged in songs/remixes/live performances that's really stretched out the song. Life is much more fast paced now in the smart phone world where 25 things demand your attention on your phone at once. It's trained our minds to blink and seek the next bit of stimulation. In the 90s though, things were different. We had nowhere to be in a rush, we stayed with one thought and idea for extended periods of time. As for clubs in the 90s, it was a different scene. You could smoke, probably on Molly and whatever else, where the strobe lights through the smoke created this ethereal trippy cloud. You would find yourself in a trance where the same phrase being repeated 20 times over a beat would elevate your state of euphoria more and more. It was one of those moods where you'd turn up at the club at 8pm and might not leave the same venue till 6am. We weren't in a rush. We wanted music to take over our bodies and mind and be lost in it. I'm ADHD and I've found that there is a lot less patience nowadays when I see reactions in general. The way media is presented nowadays, it doesn't encourage us to marinade in any thought for any period of time. Media nowadays has to be short, sharp, sweet, and then move on. Back then, we had no choice but to milk anything fun for as long as we could, because we didn't have a lot else going on LOL. Post 90s life doesn't really work like that most of the time. But just wanted to give some context to the time these songs were made.
