Devlog - 24

Happy weekend! Hope ya'll are doing great. It's time to show my homework again. First, a little catch up on the concept. This is the northern half of the hub town, which I've named Haze, and will refer to as such from now. North Haze is the residential area, thus containing private homes, farms, and the Adrix temple. The temple is the cultural heart of the community, offering a shred of hope in a bleak world. However, like with any position of power, the Maestros are vulnerable to corruption. Anyway, the religious elements of the world go pretty deep, so I'll delve into that more when I get into the story. For now, I just want to establish the setting and name of the town for some context. Haze is an emerald jewel of God's nature in an otherwise mutilated world full of monsters. As the only major town in the game, it will offer the player all the necessary amenities, and be packed with story telling/world building elements. For more details on the southern commercial area of Haze, please refer to past devlogs.     

This week I created more house variants and worked in more details across the entire scene. With every design I consider the consistency of aesthetics as well as the logistics. For example, where do the materials come from, what are the construction techniques, what colors and motifs capture the spirit of the culture? I certainly appreciate these kinds of details, as the more believable the world, the more immersive the experience. See, I could just throw down some generic planks of wood for a bridge, but that wouldn't suit the proud community living around the temple.
