More Messing with AI Nonsense

First off, I was trying to make this post public, but for whatever reason, more than anything else, Patreon freaked out about nudity & said it should be a patron-only post? Even though there's no nudity. Maybe a navel on a belly made it think there was a boob? I don't know. But I already have very mixed feelings about this AI generated stuff & I definitely don't want to paywall something that I really didn't have much of a hand in making.

At any rate, I've been running ragged this last week & a half with job stuff. The very brief windows of time I have had to myself, before or after collapsing in a heap, I got the itch to mess more with the AI nonsense some more again. Things have updated & there are different models to try out & curiosity got the better of me, if only because I could just leave my computer to batch a bunch of results for a day & come back later & just scroll through. And as I've said before, there's like this gambler's sort of rush to hitting that "generate" button in hopes of some kind of decent result.

Still, I recognize it all still very much sucks. Even with different prompts, some of which included "photo of..." the model I got some of the best results from seemed to just base everything off a pastiche of styles. Because generally, the results all had a pretty stylized look to them. It's presumably combining the looks of artists that probably had no say in having their work included in the model. That's bullshit. And made more bullshit by the sheer rate & volume it can be done at. Like I posted a batch that yielded the first 4 that I posted on twitter (& 3 or 4 others included here), didn't really change the prompt but increased how many batches it ran while at work one day & came home to almost a thousand images, where a lot of the other ones included in this post came from. In fact, that level of the automation is insane to me, since my computer's pretty middle of the road & on the verge of becoming lower end.

Now granted, there's a lot of body horror coming out of all that too. Bulgy Nagas of boobs & multiple faces & hips connecting to boobs at another angle. Arms positioned like they're supporting a hefty belly, but the hands fused into the flesh. Front butts, & not like a big belly protruding hemispherically, but like the subject's spine is broken & 180'ed. And beyond that many are very same-y. What's funny to me is that a lot of them were from prompts where I tried asking for a blueberry girl but instead it just kicked out blue hair? Not that I'm mad at that but it's not a blueberry.

At the same time, there were also a lot of somewhat decent results too. I'm sharing some selects here, because as someone who does like doing art, I find a lot of the poses & hair & lighting very good reference for future work I'd like to do. Like a lot of the stuff that is even straight up botched, I'd like to be able to still take things from it & pull a kernel of inspiration out of to turn into a nice original piece.

I don't want to be that "well the toothpaste is out of the tube" guy, but I don't see this going away. And I do find a value in this sort of a tool for me personally. Still, I understand fully that I didn't create any art here, I just typed words into a field & a graphics processor cobbled something together from other people's original work. And I definitely don't want to try & act like what I'm getting out of it is some kind of precious masterpiece that needed my particular input. It's all pretty generic & lifeless to be honest. But maybe if I can use it as fuel to make some new art, maybe up my skills or think about things a little differently, maybe others might be able to as well.

I'm very open to discussion in this so feel free to sound off.

im very curious in this as well i downloaded a AI generator but fail to know how to use the program to its fullest , like using photos and other artist styles . plus i suck when it comes to describing a scene lol , i would love to use AI work like this for inspirations and reference too. so im not sure if you have any simple tips?

I love quite a few of these

I feel like you can see that a bit in a lot of the images I included too honestly. Like I was saying I pruned a lot of very same-y looking ones but still there are a few lookalikes compositionally. Or how blueberry means blue hair or whatever. Maybe that's a product of them coming in batches where the similar features are being asked for. From what I can tell, a lot of the guys going full bore into this have like a prompt template & apply it to everything across the board after they get good results once. But ultimately, yeah, if it's the same portrait over & over, whether by virtue of the model or the intended output, there's only so much variation you're going to get out of it. There are ways to vary things up more but I don't see a lot of the booba or chubby "AI artists" really implementing a lot of that.

I also see value in the tool and it's so potentially powerful...it will probably be here to stay. Especially if it continues to improve. Out of curiosity, I started following a few accounts of people that exclusively pump out AI material. The first few posts are kinda neat and then...its just...immensely bland. To the point of being annoying. Ah yes, the 300th picture of a slightly different clone, doing something similar to its brethren, in the same pose, with the same "8 inches too high" belly button, and doing the same thing. Like eating a McDonald's burger every meal of every single day for months but something is slightly different the next time. Maybe some sesame seeds are added to the bun, maybe the pickles are kosher instead of dill, maybe the patty has fused into the plate and the mustard is almost perfectly shaped like a pickle on top of the bun.
