Added 2022-06-17 20:28:50 +0000 UTCGot in a couple more sessions on this piece. You can see the evolution since the last update in the process gif. As I was planning in the last post, I enlarged and redid the King. Also modified the throne and cloaked figures. Much stronger presence and feeling of intimidation I think. In the polishing phase now, it's nearing final form.
There's a learning curve with these detailed compositions. Seems there's always a point right in the middle of the process where it still looks ugly and I'm full of doubt, but with enough TLC a surprising and satisfying result eventually manifests itself. Sometimes a piece is not working and you can tell before it gets too far, but it's usually best to avoid the urge to abandon a piece. The more complex the art the more ugly it looks mid process. Get used to it and press on!
